Please ditch the Ratings System

I don't believe there is a fair, useful Ratings System, as every player has different criteria for rating other players. I suggest just getting rid of player ratings altogether and if someone wants to know how good another player is, they can check out their rank. If they want to know if a player takes his turns, that's on their Personal Profile. If you want to, you can add a statistic of how many players have put them on their Ignore List, but even that is subjective.

Please use the form
form wrote:Concise description:Specifics:This will improve the following aspects of the site:- xxxxxxx (you can obviously delete this for bug reports)
- xxxxxxx
BTW: The ratings system wont be 'ditched', it has been improved a lot from feedback. If you can think of a better way / change, that might be incorporated in the next update.

Please forgive my offending language, blake. Let me rephrase : "Please reconsider the use of the Ratings System." I would make suggestions on how to improve it, but, by its nature, it's fatally flawed. Because players can post ratings without guidelines and without consequence, the system is inherently unbalanced, unreliable, unregulated and unfair. Some players may leave, and have left ratings of one star in each category for a simple or innocent remark that was mistaken in the Game Chat, or players, like me, who leave 5 stars for all players no matter what kind of player they are. I'm sorry .. there is no improvement possible when it is so subjective, but there are other guidelines to gauge what kind of player someone is.

I'm not offended, I was just saying, the rating system isn't staying, I know it's flawed but its a good way to look at a player other than just rank.
If someone leaves you all 1's you can PM them asking what you did wrong in the game, or asking them to remove the rating (again, it's not perfect, but modding feedback took up too much time)

And back on topic ... as far as their is one ... if you'd like to make general comments about the greatness or otherwise of the ratings system I think that Lack's
Ratings Reloaded thread is probably the best place.
If you'd like to make a constructive suggestion for a better/replacement system please start a new thread giving the specifics of such a system; that's the nature of this forum. [Before doing so please search the forum for any existing suggestions for replacement systems to avoid duplication.]

If you want the System to change to something else Cic have a look as this suggestion i put together:
Community FeedbackIt was merged and the moved exclusively into General from Suggestions by Wicked to give it more Air with a view to move it back .. but then she was fired.
anyway i think you will like it.

I can't count how many times I played a good game, had a good attitude, and won and received ratings of 4 across the board from other players. I think this rating system leaves too much room for error.

Its only error if its a mistake. Differences of opinion aren't mistakes.
There are any number of people who have complained about how the rating system works. The truth is that the numbers have a context to them at this point. Most players are going to have a score in the 4.6-5.0 range. That's where the numbers tend to fall and a few 4s aren't going to screw anyone over. Anyone 4.5 or below tends to have some substantial negs left in his comments. The truth of the matter is that it makes no difference if this average range is 4.6-5.0 (as it currently is) or if it falls in the 2.7-3.2 range as some think it "should" the purpose of the ratings is to show who you might want to stay away from and they do that fine

I proposes that this thread now be locked.
Not because there has been any abuse, but because it isn't a constructive Suggestion or Bug Report thread and as such can't really go anywhere.
As previously suggested by me in this post if you'd like to make general comments about the greatness or otherwise of the ratings system I think that Lack's
Ratings Reloaded thread is probably the best place.
Or if you'd like to make a constructive suggestion for a better/replacement system please start a new thread giving the specifics of such a system; that's the nature of this forum. [Before doing so please search the forum for any existing suggestions for replacement systems to avoid duplication.]
Cicero
In the absence of any constructive objection I'll lock it after the weekend.

May I remind you that the Ratings Reloaded thread is locked
but sure, since this isn't a suggestion or bug, it should be locked, GD or FW would be the place to complain, and as Cicero said, any suggestions for improvement should be made in a new thread here.

The original one is. But the one cena-rules links to above and which (I think) I linked to throughout this thread is still unlocked.

My bad, it confused me having two announcements with the same title.
