Time left to play a turn in the game list

Concise description:
  • Change the time left displayed in the game list to a more realistic time left

Specifics:
  • In the game list, it shows the time left for a turn, but it is not clear sometimes as to how much time is left until your turn. I often get games at the top of the list that says 4h left for the turn but this is for the next person's turn, not ours.
  • This is confusing because you don't take the time to see if it's a sequential game or freestyle game and even if it is sequential, you don't take the time to look who's turn it is next. You just scan the list quickly and say to yourself, ahhh i have a game turn in 4h, i should come back by then.
  • I would change the calculation of the time left to [time left] + 24h/5m * [Players left before you]. It would not be real because anyone can play in that streak of time and drop the count by a lot of hours but at least, games that are not due yet, such as a sequential game with 6 more players to play before you would not be at the top of the list but at the bottom with a time left of 144h.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • Less confusion as to when turns are coming
  • Games that we coming soon will really be at the top while games that should take a lot of time because the sequence is far from complete would be at the bottom of the list.
  • This doesn't apply to freestyle obviously.

There is no way to predict when your next turn will be. Not everyone waits the full 24hrs or 5m before finishing their turn. In fact, the only two ways for this to happen is for them to: a) miss a turn or: b) run out of time during their turn (one is rare, and neither can be counted on).

So CC gives us the only relevant countdown timer there is.

I disagree with this because of the nature of team games.

In order to comment on someone else's turn I need to be able to see when a turn has been taken, the easiest way to do this is to look at the bottom of my list... with this suggestion they would usually be in the middle somewhere.

A version I would be OK with is to have a number of display options so that players with different types of games can all have a display format that suits them. I know however that lack dislikes too many options so this is unlikely to happen.

I think you don't understand what i mean. Obviously you can't know how much time there is before it is your turn, but at least, if my way of doing is implemented, i will not get a few games at the top saying 15 minutes left while there is still 3 turns left that may take up to 24h each.

And also at the same time. Your argument doesn't make sense, the only reliable timer we have is the one already displayed on the list? False, under the same optic that you said, that time left may be overriden anytime by the fact that a player may play his turn.

Therefore, my suggestion isn't as foolish as it seems, just sorts the games better...

It shows you the amount of time that the current player has, you just have to look and see how many more people are before you.

I like to monitor other people's moves and how they are doing in the games - thus I dislike this suggestion.
