[Rules] Penalize Army Deploy by Half for Missed Turn

MISSED TURN OVERREACTION

It seems to me that when a player misses a turn, their simply aren't any serious consequences for them. Granted, missing a turn can be a big blow, but in MOST games, it simply is not that critical.

However, for the other players in that game, having to wait for so long while that player's turn times out, it IS a big deal.

A player who misses their turn should NOT, in my view, be granted ALL of the armies they would have received had they not missed their turn. Rather, they should be granted "half" of that amount (rounded down) at most (I would vote for "none").

I well recognize that real life intrudes occasionally and we simply must miss turns (it's happened to me). However, the folks who miss turns seem to almost gain an advantage from it, in some cases.

I believe this would make the consequences for missing turns more in line with what they should be.

If you do not want a player getting all of their armies deferred to them when they return, just attack them. Their deferred army count will decrease in the same fashion as their deployed armies for the turn when they get back.

I understand that, but I'm not necessarily in a position to do so, map-wise. It simply seems to me that players aren't really penalized for missing turns, and I believe they should be.

In addition to lancehoch's response it is worth noting that any Auto Deploy bonuses (like the castle ones on Feudal War) are lost when you miss a turn.

On a flip side - no negative auto deploy "bonuses" are lost either.

I don't know but I think take away a players missed turn armies and it might make it so they don't miss turns so much, by giving them their armies after a missed turn you are rewarding them for missing 1-2 turns by giving them a larger army. there should also be a concede button that way when a foe is totaly out gunned he can just concede the game (still lose points) instead of dead beat. I have had that happen to me was winning then the guy just stopped showing up so I had to wait 3 days to get the win. checking back and making my plays every day.

Concise description:

[*]penalize players who miss turns

Specifics:

[*]stop giving players who miss turns deferred armies

This will improve the following aspects of the site:

[*]they will be forced to take the game and their turns more seriously

"They will be forced to take the game and their turns more seriously"

Well what if they got their hands chopped off so they can't use the mouse, and therefore cannot take their turns until they find a nice lady to take their turns for them?

Not a good idea [-X

well then, with a doctors note, an exception could be made

look , everyone has to miss turns sometimes and its not fair that they get nothing - deferred armies are crap enough and hard to use to advantage

If you've never missed a turn then you have no life. Sh*t happens sometimes.

shit does happen, your right, but if you do not make a habit out of missing turns then you really shouldnt be affected the few times you lose those armies

there are players who miss turns strategically

And those players are not above 1000.

why should they be penalized at all, it's not their fault if they miss turns, and it is a strategy to do so

Who's fault is it then? How about personal responsibility...take responsibility for your actions and inactions.....suffer the consequences. Get a baby sitter to take your turns for you....

but it is a strategy to miss turns and have more armies (especially in Chained/Adjacent)

I believe deferring armies is good enough. Players who constantly misses turns will lose constantly and those players who accidentally miss their turn for whatever reason they still have a chance. Deferring armies is good because one enough because the player has already missed a whole attack phase, the player is open to attack and the next turn he cant use the guys that he would have already had until the fortification phase. If you dont like people to miss turns then dont join games with low attendance ratings. I think its fun the people who are complaining here are all premiums.. you have unlimited amount of games is waiting three days to get a win really going to kill you? Grow up and have some patience.

OK how 'bout this? On your turn after a missed go, you only get say 20 hours to play. next time, 12 hours. That'll speed up the multiple-spoiler problem a bit (where people just join and never take a move)

I still don't like this, it's not really a problem

How about people get deferred armies for the first two turns they miss, and after that they lose the armies? That way, if something comes up, they can miss a turn or two, but they can't effectively use skipping turns as a strategy.
