"teamwork"
"gameplay" - see Lack's >> Gameplay attribute for ratings thread.
"attendance" - any automation (see Lack's >> Calculate attendance outside of ratings) will not necessarily preclude the need to rate using tags also.
"other categories" - suggested by posters though not currently used in ratings.

update, 6 July wrote:The master list now includes suggestions under the following 4 headings:
"attitude"
"fair play"
"teamwork"
"gameplay" - see Lack's >> Gameplay attribute for ratings thread.

"attendance" - has been removed since it would appear this is likely to be automated - see Lack's >> Calculate attendance outside of ratings.

original post, on 1 July, wrote:In Lack's >> descriptive tags for ratings thread he proposes using tags to supplement ratings. He also suggested that people post, in that thread, their suggestions for useful tags. That thread is very busy and as a consequence the few suggestions for ratings are somewhat lost in the noise.

The aim of this thread is to collect suggestions for tags which might be useful to incorporate into any tag based rating system.
As a brainstorming exercise it's important that we all post suggestions only and stay strictly focussed ie on topic, please don't post criticism of suggestions or criticism of the thread here.

Please use the general format
<tag suggestion> - <rating category>

I will collect them all into the master list below in this first post - so please check the list before posting if you can - it'll help me out :)
[To get things started I've begun harvesting the suggestions made within Lack's original thread.]

attacked own team without cause
does not coordinate strategy well
English poor.
helped teammates understand game

Attitude -- curses excessively
Bullies other players
highly critical of other players in chat
constant complaints about dice, drop etc.
seemed in bad mood
Left game when losing
Pleasant player
Very funny

Fair Play -- used missed turns as strategy
attacked for revenge/vendetta, etc.
suicided and changed game
formed unnannounced alliance
broke announced truce
made an announced alliance
very balanced play
helped new/inexperienced player without harming overall strategies
took double turns in freestyle game

Attendance: -- automate. (fully discussed in that thread)
have the missed turns rating "up front" next to overall ratings
have average time to take turn in profile.

If not automated:
Deadbeat, but "excused"
Deadbeat
Missed turns only with cause
missed 1 turn in a week, 1-2 in a month, 3-4 in 3 months.
(note -- these will need clarification, adjustment -- I don't play many long games)
missed 2 turns in a week, 3 in a month,
missed a lot of turns or seemed to use it as strategy

Strategy poor
suicider
Brilliant tactician
learn the map!

Along with this, I would also like to see full descriptions of each attribute, with examples, in the instructions.

wow!

Loads of contributions - keep them coming people.

Player57832 - thanks for the nudge that I'd used "Gameplay" in error.
I've now edited and changed this to "Fair Play" to properly reflect the current rating names.

yeti_c and Incandenza - you might like to re-post to clarify whether your tags still apply given the corrected heading.

I can see that post being removed...

You need to post elsewhere to show your displeasure of the ratings... (Mods - feel free to remove this when you remove the post above)

Thanks for all the tag ideas!

Here is my rough list based on all your great tag ideas :-) I put in rough "categories" but I'm not sure if we should actually categorize them on the rating form or whether those categories should match the ratings attributes. There are many more "negative" tags than "positive" ones - I'm not sure if that is a good thing either.

I'd love to hear some feedback on this list:

** attendance **
Quick
Slow
Deadbeat

** chat **
Friendly
Funny
Helpful
Talkative
Silent
Rude
Complainer
Paranoid
Bully

** diplomacy **
Trustworthy
Backstabber

** teamwork **
Good Teammate
Bad Teammate
Teammate Killer

** cooperation (diplomacy/teamwork) **
Cooperative
Uncooperative

** gameplay **
Brave
Coward
Irrational
Reckless
Suicider
Vindictive
Sore Loser
Quitter
Clueless

** fair play **
Balanced Play
Secret Diplomacy
Cheap Tactics

** style **
Leader
Follower
Good Strategy
Poor Strategy

EDIT: I would prefer to see tags only for the negs and nuetrals. For positives .. .a PM is really nicer and will do more. How many people really READ the positive comments? We just looked at the totals. We READ the negs because we wanted to know why. Deadbeat, poor sport ... or was the person leaving the neg a jerk.

If you DO keep positives, what about "helpful"

AND

I REALLY DON'T like "flirtatious". It is WAY too easy to be misconstrued or misused.
I Suggest using "playful" instead. It can include "flirtatious", but does not have the negative connotation.
