No card counter in FoW

Postby Mr_Adams on Mon May 05, 2008 9:37 pm

The title says it all

other players shouldn't be able to see when you've got cards, or tell when you get/use them in FoW...

you're still giving to much information in FoW!!!

That just doesn't make much sense.

You'll still be able to see when somebody makes a successful attack. The observant player would simply have to go back in the log and keep track of how many successful attacks a player has made to see how many cards the person has. Adding the card counter just streamlines the whole and makes it easier for players who would otherwise have to take too much time to figure out what is essentially public knowledge.

As for revealing trade-ins, it wouldn't be as precise, but a player would still be able to deduce when a player has three or more cards combining two things. 1) As outlines above, counting the successful attacks will illustrate how many total cards a person has captured in a given period. 2) People will notice the sudden difference of troop enforcements. It may not be exact for flat rate (though it still might be able to come pretty close....close enough to negate making the info hidden IMO), but after a handful of trade-ins in an escalating game, hiding that would be useless.

Now, this could work if FOW didn't reveal as much as it does. If you want to change that, changing the amount of card information is no the place to start in the current FOW design, since the information in the log just negates not making it readily available.

it was decided by the CC community that the log will have some information in it so the people who do read the log can have some clue as to what is going on elsewhere.
