(s/r/b) feedback!

Postby Ditocoaf on Sun May 04, 2008 1:08 pm

I realize there's a thread for this stuff, but since it seems to be just a string of people saying, "I'd like there not to be stupid people," I thought I'd give this idea a shot on it's own, because I really think it has a lot of merit.

Ditocoaf wrote:If we're going to do a 1-10 or 1-5 ranking system, I'd like to see it ranked on three separate criteria:
Skill
Reliability
Behavior
Usually feedback will be based on one of these three things, but there is no way to differentiate at a glance whether someone's 4 negs refer to their skill, or the fact that they don't play well with others.

The (#-#) after someone's name could be replaced with (#/#/#), with their average score for each of the criteria.

However, there should be a "null vote" option for each, in case you only want to comment on one or two of the criteria.

Vote yes on (Skill/Reliability/Behavior) feedback!

My hope is that if one idea can get enough support behind it, then changes will occur sooner. At the current rate, the "what do YOU want" thread will just sit there for months and months before they even commit to doing anything.

The form

Postby Ditocoaf on Sun May 04, 2008 1:17 pm

Concise description:
  • Replace "positive" and "negative" feedback with ratings in three different areas.

Specifics:
  • If we're going to do a 1-10 or 1-5 ranking system, I'd like to see it ranked on three separate criteria:
    Skill
    Reliability

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • You will be able to rate players based on the things you want to, and you will be able to know what you want to based on those ratings. (as opposed to one number signifying many different things).
  • A quick glance at the feedback numbers will tell you what you want to know about a player, instead of digging through mounds of text for specific references.
  • Poor ratings will be averaged in with everything else, instead of being singled out.
  • Complaints about feedback should drop.

I believe a mixture of this and comments would be worth changing but not this alone.

Personally, when I see players criticizing other people's strategy, I want to put the CRITICIZER on my ignore list!Almost without exception the folks doing the complaining about other folk's tactics are not even high ranked!

Speed, too is abused as a criticism.  If you want to play fast, play speed games!   Go ahead and put people on your ignore list if you wish, but leave negatives for the really bad stuff -- like the outright jerks, the habitual deadbeaters, teammates who refuse to communicate, etc.

If you really want these things listed, then it needs to be as a nuetral.   Otherwise, you are just creating your own set of rules that you think the CC world should follow.

Exactly, player. That's actually my point. You don't care about those two aspects, but people are still leaving feedback for it. What I would do is split the aspects up, so that you can look at only what you care about. We can't stop people from leaving certain kinds of feedback, but we can filter it out.

I think you need to read through the thread that was already started ... a lot of this was talked over pretty thoroughly there.

I like this very much.

Now just get rid of the feedback mods in the meanwhile and we're golden. =)
