A game like this already exists

I've been away for a while and reading through 1 years worth of suggestions isn't something I'm going to do, So if this is a repeat of a previous idea, please delete.

My idea is this. When you start a game with your game parameters, an alert could flash up telling you that a game with the same settings is already made and waiting for players.

Just use the "Game Finder" to check if someone else has a game already started.

A lot of folks want to start new games even if there are identical games existing -- either becuase they want to play more than one or because they don't want to play with particular individuals .. for ANY reason. (maybe they are on their ignore list, maybe they are already playing games with those folks and want variety .. or maybe someone just decided this is a bad day to play anyone with a "t" in their name ... )

PS. you don't have to look through a "year's worth of posts" to see if an idea is presented, just look in Lack's "to do" list, the sticky at the top of this page.

Yep, this is something I really want to do in order to cut down on pages of waiting games

Because pedro is retarded and didn't think of any of this.

Sure but when they start dulicate games instead of joining one it is bad for the rest of us. It bloats the join pages and makes games slower to fill in general. So let's give people the option of making a dupe but discourage it since it's often done for no good reason.

yes, but you can choose to turn it off, and the notification does not force you to delete your game- it only informs you.

Look I agree that I'm retarded, but I did look at the pending list of 'to do' and yes, I know that you can search for games, but not everyone is aware of the game finder or just too lazy to bother looking.

No it wouldn't be something you can turn off - it would always be an extra click for people that make dupes.

But will it really do what you want? .. that is, cause people not to start duplicate games? Or will it just frustrate those who decide not to join the existing games.

Basically, people decide to not join because either someone is on their ignore list OR there is someone too high/too low in rank already joined.

I, for example, generally don't join with anyone who is a major or above ... they are out of my league. I also tend to avoid the "pre-set" team" games, since I don't have a set team myself.

What about just limiting the number of the SAME game type that someone can start -- say 5 or even 10. I know this has been suggested before, but maybe it wasn't an issue before and now it is? Five - ten games is enough that those who like to play the same types can, but just not go "overboard".

Wouldn't it tell you about games you already made as well? I make plenty of games with the same settings for different groups of players.
