Curbing inflation

* Suggestion Idea: Actually, these are a few suggestions, all with the aim to lessen or even completely stop points inflation.
* Specifics:
Idea 1: Have a small "points tax." This would be taken both from points won and points lost. Therefore, you still lose as much as the other person gains, but maybe 1 or 2 points out of every 20 points simply disappears.

Idea 2: Lower the initial points given to New Recruits. This would introduce fewer points per New Recruit, and thus reducing the rate of inflation. This would not be a problem in the long run, as the players' points will eventually even out to what should be their points range.

(I had other ideas earlier, but I can't seem to remember them... Later, if it's even worth it, I'll edit this part of the post if I remember them.)

* Why it is needed: Inflation is generally seen as a bad thing, as higher ranks get more and more common; these are just a couple simple ways to help deal with this problem.

You may want to look at the 'Scoring Ad-Hoc' (check Twill's sticky at the top), as they've been discussing many score related things.

I actually think score needs to be inflated. Sure, there are more higher-ranked people, but there are also a LOT more Cooks and Cadets. The average score is LESS than 1000 points, meaning that for every Captain, there should be about two people in the bottom ranks. I think that there shouldn't be as many points taken out of the system, so that everybody at least has a chance to rise in rank.

lol. I'm not asking for free point handouts; all points are earned by winning games. But there should be more points to win from other players, meaning there should be more points in the system in general.

Maybe in the form of official tournaments with point prizes, or some sort of reward program.
