I came here from a poker site, and they had it worked out..
You had play money players & real money players
The Real money players had part of their bets creamed off as a rake for the poker site - which financed the site.
When the site was encountering a heavy useage - the play money players were refused entry and only real money players were allowed on.
Premium members are the Real money poker players at CC and having the site slow down due to sheer weight of members is wrong when some of us have paid a fee.
I'm not going to make any friends saying this - but it needed to be said.

I know of other sites that things similar to that above. We'll just have to see what Lack can do to speed things up. Perhaps only some minor tweaking is involved. Too many people are thinking the world's coming to an end.

I don't know why you moved this Andy - It wasn't a suggestion.
It was a demand

Same thing in my book, forum wise.
A problem I foresee, if this is ever implemented...would be the obvious loss of turns for those who are not premiums. Any premium in a game with freemies would gain an unfair advantage of being able to play, while others cannot.

Use your food stamps for your pringles, twinkies and hot cheetos instead of cash. Simple.

Or do like me and eat Ramen instead of a few steaks!
Really, it sounds like a good idea (priority for premium) but limiting the number of games for non-premie (as it is) should be good enough.
Perhaps the need is for more bandwidth?

This idea wouldn't work as well here. On poker sites, play and real money games are (obv) seperate. Here however, most games will have a mix of premium and non-premium players. Unless these mixed games are prioritised for non-prem as well as prem players, premium gains nothing. As (I suspect) this accounts for the majority of games here, little would be achieved (reducing server load-wise) by doing this.
If it was possible to specify premium-only as an option when setting up games, such games could be given priority if necessary.
Can't you just enter a few more games simultaneously to compensate for things going a bit slower?

i think we need to get rid of some dead weight on this site, obviously multis are a problem but they are doing all they can to combat that, I'm not sure this will do anything to speed up the site other than clean it up, but if you dont use your account in 3-6 months i think it should be deleted, much like an e-mail account, so we can cut down on all the multiple accounts made by noobs when they forget their password or what not.

Except that deleting accounts... doesn't happen. If they've been in a game, there's been a point shift to or from that account, and it would screw up scoring to delete the account.
We may be having difficulties because of the large number of accounts, but my suspicion is that the large archive of completed games isn't helping, either. Neither of these issues has an obvious solution, as far as I can tell.

So what you're saying is that we should all move to Japan?
