How about this for an idea...
If you are in the middle of taking your turn then all of a sudden get frozen out so you can't finish is there a way to have the card awarded?
It sucks that you don't get a card you have earned through a(several) successful atttack(s) just because you are not able to click the finish fortifications button because you are unable to get a response in the game(probably thru no fault of CC).
It's bad enough that you don't get to finish your turn and don't get to fortify. You shouldn't be penalized the card too.
This just happened to me earlier in my game 1600511.

I agree.
If you took a territory in a cards game you should get a card regardless of how your turn ends.

It just happened to me today in a speed game. It's particularly likely to happen when you only have 5 minutes to take a turn.
I think that this would definately be an improvement.

I also believe you should get a card no matter what, so long as you have conquered one territory

i was just about to post this too...it pisses me off i don't get a card if i don't hit End Fortification...speed games are hard enough without being denied the card you rightfully earned (same for non-speed)

The current reason you do not get a card for not ending your turn is that by making that the only way to get your card, we are reminding you not to stall the game unecessarily (I.E. starting your hour turn, getting finished in 5 minutes, and then letting the game sit while you are 'playing your turn' for 55 minutes).

exactly and it is a poor strategy but timing out is used in 1v1 freestyle speed so why award those players for doing something that they shouldnt be doing anyway?

I believe you should only get a card if time runs out in speed games!

That sounds like it would be kind of counter to the idea of speed games...as you need to work fast!

If the concern is that people will take an hour to end their turn then why not make the maximum turn shorter. I don't think I've ever spent even half an hour on a turn. I'm not sure why someone would let their game sit in a regular game but if it bothers the other players, that's what negative feedback is for.
Maybe freestile games could be set up so that if you time out you still dont get a card in order to discriminate against that 'strategy.' I for one don't play freestile because of all the shananigans like this.
As far as speed games go, I wouldn't mind someone taking a turn thats more than 5 minutes as long as they're doing something. I think it is particularly necesary for cards to be awarded in speed games if the timer ends because people have such short turns.
Based on the comments left in this topic, it seems that most people favor awarding a card regardless of whether a player runs out of time, so long as they took a territory that turn. In the Risk, the actual game, their is no timing out and losing your card.

Some turns, particularly on large maps, can take a long long time to do. Some turns you can finish in under a minute. Others will take you 45 minutes. Just the way it is... Besides, if you want a card, ending your turn will remind you to do it.

I like this idea, but I dont like it for freestyle games. Freestyle is different.
