higher resolution maps

Can we get higher resolution maps? Say in the range of 1080P? I use a 40 inch lcd tv as my monitor and on a screen this size the maps are very blurry. I assume it's because they maps are saved at lower resolutions.

Just a thought. Or even just an option use higher resolution maps would be good. Tkz

No. Just... No... It would involve going and uploading a set of whole new higher resolution maps (for all of them, that'd dozens of maps), and of course that would increase the file size of them. That would mean longer load times and higher load on the server, slowing it down. Honestly, it would just be a lot better for you to reduce your screen resolution of you care so much...

Also, at least make sure you're on the large map and not the small one.

get a monitor, not a tv. problem solved.

i have a 30" 2056x1600 lcd, and all the maps are fine except british isles. that one looks like garbage, and its even worse on the 'larger map' option.

The problem would be the amount of work a map maker would have to go through to make those super res maps and would then load a lot slower for some...

It's just not really feasible, at this point.

Hecter. For LCD tv's you're supposed to use the native resolution of your tv when using it as computer monitor so reducing the resolution isn't a good idea. besides, it actually makes it look worse.

I understand about the load times issue and that's why i suggested maybe having an "OPTIONS" button where you could select your map resolution preference size. I'm on high speed so download times aren't an issue for me.

Do you realize how much work would go into making a map of that size?

And, last I heard, most people are still using computer monitors to play CC, not 40" LCD screens. So, even with a huge map, very few people would use them because they use normal computer monitors.

Instead of using your 40", why don't you just use a screen thats a bit smaller?

Or, as another wonderful suggestion, go in the map foundry and make a map at 1080p. See how much work it takes, but be sure to make it good, so you can sit at home using your fancy TV to play risk, when no one else would touch your 1080p version because it will be way too big for normal computers.

I'd settle for 780p then :>

By the way, I don't have a smaller monitor. Kinda the point of getting a big TV so i wouldn't need a monitor!

The problem really here is that you're the only person with this issue - and for the amount of time and effort to provide high res maps - just for you - it's not worth it...

The site is trying to work on ways to get bigger maps onto it - but the average res of a user is 1024 x 768 - so each map has to support that too...

It would be nice to have "huge" versions of the map for people higher than 1280 x 1024 - but again the percentages of users with those resolutions are very low.

I suppose the issue really isn't the map itself. It's more so the army number on the territory. I'm assuming that is part of the code for CC and not really the code for the maps.

Higher resolution numbers, or like i said before, the option to use higher resolution numbers would be beneficial.

It's just an idea.

Don't expect it to be done next week.

Yeah the numbers are the same size and style on both small and large maps...

But making higher res numbers is way more possible than hi res maps.

Ya, doesn't seem like higher res numbers would be much of an issue. Would definitely solve the problem for those of us on bigger monitors.

Thanks for listening....even if it doesn't happen. >:-)
