Give people enough time to do their turns

* Suggestion Idea: When someone has only 5 minutes to do their turn, and they click "begin turn", it should then give them a certain amount of time to actually complete the turn.
* Specifics: You should have at least a half hour and maybe the full hour to do your turn, even if it said you only had 5 minutes left before you click "begin turn"
* Why it is needed: If I arrive at my computer just in time to find out that I have 5 minutes left to do a game, why should I go through the agony of getting half way through my turn? If I'm there to actually do my turn before time runs out, give me a break and actually let me do my turn. I think most players prefer it anyway when other players actually play their turn instead of miss it. It makes the game less enjoyable when people miss their turn, no?
I dont think anyone will cry if someone got 24 hours and 55 minutes to do their turn instead of strictly 24 hours. People would probably prefer that everyone just gets to play their turn.
I was in a game where this happened to me and another game where it just happened to someone else. It's really pointless to have it arranged this way.

I agree we need more playing time, but half an hour is ridiculous. I'd say something like 10 minutes once a player starts his/her turn.

You get plenty of time....a whole day matter of fact.

Thats true, its enough time, and the extra time could be abused by people who purposely wait for the last second to play.

Agreed,
If you can figure out a way to make this abuse proof, we'll consider it.

this is a good idea....i think if it gets to the last say 10/20 mins of your 24 hours that perhaps you get an extra 10 mins...i wouldnt have an issue with this

Make it available in sequential games only. Problem solved

fantastic idea,
it sucks that some people find 24 hours to take their turn is not long enough so lets change it so everyone has 25 hours to take their turn.

i think it can be implemented in freestyle too, as u if the other player doesnt start his turn within 12 hours u can go...so there wont be a loophole..
i think if it gets to within 10 mins of your 24 hours ending, then u should get an extra 10 mins. if u cant get around the board in that time then bad luck i say.
so u wouldnt actually get 24 hrs and 10 mins...u only get the extra 10 mins if u start your turn with 10 mins to go

I thought this was about speed games the first time I read this. I think it's more necessary for speed games; I've had a few times where I run out of time while playing a speed game, and was about to take out another player. This hands the game to a third player in card games, and is a rather painful way to lose.

If you think and act quickly 5 minutes should be enough. If you can't think and act quickly, then don't wait till the last minute. If you can't take your turn earlier, then tough luck.

If the time limit was changed to 25 hours, players would cry and want 26 hours, then 27 hours and so on. Allowing people to abuse their time limit even more...

24 hours is a full day, i can only think of one or two people in my life that actually have unpredictable schedules. for me i get up at 6:30, go to school until 2:10, go to practice until 6, come home and eat at about 6:30 then the rest of the night is mine for homework and CC. thats my set up for the weekdays and it doesnt deviate from that. those of you who are out of school and have jobs likely have an even more rigid schedules. find some time you can spare and designate that time for CC everyday

It takes 5 minutes to make a move. Your telling me you dont have 5 free minutes throughout the day? If you cant find the time to play then you obviously have more important things to do and shouldn't be playing online games.

I think you're missing the point. The point is that there
are going to be times, regardless of any other considerations, when a player is about to start his game when there may be very little time to get it done. If a player goes to the trouble of clicking "Begin turn", then
why not just give that player a minimum amount of time that he needs to do his turn? Why force the rush if a player has 3 minutes to do his turn? Who benefits from this? Nobody. No one benefits from a player doing his turn half-way, regardless of whose "fault" it is. We all benefit when players do their turn, because then the game is more fun. If they've made the effort to start the game before the 24 hours are up, let them have a reasonable amount of time to do their turn. There is really no reason NOT to allow this. I don't see how a few extra minutes for them is going to end up being "abused".

PsyDev, with the greatest of respect, it is not the other posters on this thread that are missing the point.
CC is not forcing anyone to rush their turn. Regardless of the circumstances when a player takes a turn with only 3 minutes left, the
player must take responsibility for that.
Regardless of the circumstances ...
Right now I'm in 14 games. I log in every day and take my turns. I have plenty of free time. In all my time at CC I have very rarely missed or failed to complete a turn. "Lucky you", you may say, "some people have more complex schedules or issues to deal with ...". Yes, I know.
Regardless of the circumstances the
player must take responsibility ...
Recently there was a long period when I didn't log in to CC regularly, often for several days or weeks. But I didn't miss any turns!
How did I do this?
