Skip Turn Button

It would be helpful if there was a checkbox "don't wait for my turn" - so that if all players that haven't played in the current round have this box checked, the game increments to the next round.
This would mean that players who are active but deliberatley skipping turns to accumulate armies (valid tactic) won't have to hold up the game for others (frustrating).

YES!!!!!! That would be perfect, cause 4 of my games are frozen by people who have not gone so I have to wait 24 hours to play. The check box would be quite possibly the BEST IDEA EVER *echo*

I support this idea as not only useful and functional but for reasons of mental health.

That's assuming the deadbeats even remember to click it... still, I too support this idea.

I think that Ran Taro has the best Idea Ive heard yet!!!!!
This would not only give people the chance to stay in a game when they know they might not be able to play for a while,(and hope there still alive) but also present a whole new level of strat eliment that I've never experienced before

This is for sequential games, right?
In freestyle games you'd just need a skip turn option.
Yeah, but...

... I think a lot of deadbeats are probably folks who find the site and come in thinking, "Great! Risk!" Then don't read any of the How To Play items... and have no idea the turns are 24 hours.
... Then they vanish, never to return, leaving us all hanging for 72 hours.
(sigh)

yes nobunaga, that must be the case for most deadbeats. i really ought to re-word my homepage so that new recruits have a better idea of what they're getting themselves into. even if it scares some people off, quality is sometimes more important than quantity.

Set it up so people can't start entering games unless they read and accept the "rules of play" beforehand. I'm not much of a coder, but you should be able to link profiles to an acceptance of reading through the rules.

Lol, do you ever read the things you "have to read and accept terms"?

This is probably gonna be shot down right away but in the flame wars column under the thread public service announcement
(click) page 2 it was mentioned by marvaddin that if there were a skip a turn button he would use it. if this is made then maybe it could included as optional when making a game. this is certainly better than waiting 24 hours for someone to purposely skip their turn. also no player should be allowed to skip 3x in a row to prevent deadbeating perhaps but i myself think it would save time especially for us with free accounts.
im not sure what priority level this should be since it will most likely be shot down right away

Skipping turns and quitting games: the eternal problem

How about a skip turn button or an option that will allow you to skip multiple turns? For people who go on random vacations and for those who like to skip turns as strategy.
or
Either that or allow a person to quit a game with unanimous permission from the other players in the match.
Unpredictable things happen in life and playing risk online has to take a backseat in life. This will allow the other players to go in the game in an enjoyable way.

Skip turns wouldn't really work...
Becuase How would it work without being abused?

I don't think I'm the only guy who has felt bad because he can't play on a certain day and makes other players wait longer for their turns. If you're going to visit relatives or have a busy day coming, there should be some sort of option for you to skip turns. You basically sit out of the next round. When you get back you'll have the armies for the turn you skipped, but no card (duh).
Also, perhaps you could set a date to be skipped in all your games.
I think it'd be very handy for us civic minded folk who don't like others to wait or suffer because of us.

There should be a skipped turn button for people who KNOW they'll be missing a turn. I go away most weekends and have had to skip turns every now and then. It unecessarily holds the game up. I've considered stopping playing it online and going old school with a real board!

Maybe it should be implemented with a selectable number of turns to skip -- when you press
Skip Turn, you would be asked
"Skip for how many turns?" --
1,
2 or
3.....

I know when most people go away for a weekend, they kinda count on the 24 hours they have, so that if they miss 2 turns, then it takes 48 hours, and that puts your back at monday (ish)
So, why would you want to skip your turn, have everyone else take their turn within' 12 hours, then have to miss another turn (straight away) and everyone else play their turn, then skip a turn, kinda redundant. Most count on the 24 hours, like I said
