Suggestion: Mouse-over on maps shows # of territories

Postby 3seven1 on Tue Nov 13, 2007 5:31 pm

<-------------------->

<Subject>:

* Concise Idea - I think it would be a good idea to change what information is shown when you mouse-over a map while starting a new game.

<Body>:

* Suggestion Idea: Right now when you mouse-over the picture of a map you see the name of the map. Right under the picture you see the name of the map. I would like to know how many territories each map has but I'd hate to see more space taken up on the start a game page. The best way to do this is to included that information on the mouse-over text.
* Specifics: Either change the mouse-over text to "## territories" or to "Name of Map - ## territories"
* Why it is needed: It's needed to give more information to the creator of the game without taking up more space on a page.

<-------------------->

What do you think?

This idea kind of goes along with the suggestion of "Map Descriptions", which could include # of territories, map theme, special XML features, etc.

Yeah, but that suggestion is all the way on page two. :P I read your thread but I don't agree with most of it. Granted that just my opinion and as I've been told before on CC, my opinion is shit. :( I don't there is much need for more descriptions on the maps. Especially map ratings, I don't like that at all.

Number of territories is useful information, how may suggested players isn't important, theme (?), and i'm not sure what game features would be for. I'm guessing that doodle earth has a suggested # of players of 2, but I rarely see two player doodle earth games.

All you really need to know is what the map looks like and how many territories are on the map. Any other information is already included on most maps. Such as passable and impassable boarders, one way passes and so on.

However, andy, I do like the idea about having the information on the large picture of the map after you click on the thumbnail. Well, not all the information, just the number of territories.

I would prefer there was no information displayed on mouse over, especially in an active game, I like to count the enemies armies using my cursor but end up using my finger because of the annoying map name.

I'm not suggesting it be displayed in an active game.

I think it would be useful information to have when you're starting a new game.

However I do agree with you that there shouldn't be an in-game territory counter. I've seen that suggested and I think it's not a good idea.

But now I just noticed that if you left click the info disappears so scratch that last post.
