Specify Fortifications

I had a quick check around the forums, but didn't find a thread about this - hope I'm not repeating someone else's idea...

I would like another option for fortifications: Specified Fortifications.

What I'm thinking would have 2 parts:
- Specified number of fortifications
- Fortification range

Specified number of fortifications
When starting a new game, you can specify the number of fortifications, between 1 (Chained and Adjacent) and Unlimited. So any amount, like 5 fortifications per round is allowed.
I believe this is really needed, especially in team games on bigger maps. Unlimited is sometimes too easy and Chained and Adjacent are very restrictive.

Fortification range
This will be another addition to the fortification settings of the game, but will work regardless of the type of fortification selected (except obviously Adjacent).
Simply put, fortification range is the amount of 'countries' that can be crossed while fortifying.
This could be unlimited, or any integer value greater than 1.

What are your thoughts?

Hey Crowley, is anything happening with the S.A. Map?

I thought you had disappeared.

doing that for adjacent wouldn't make any sense at all; you could, for instance, move 3 armies from Argentina to Brazil, then Brazil to Venezuela, in essence a chained fortification. It would defeat the purpose.

I will be working on it again once work pressure eases at the end of the year...

I think it's a great idea. I think LaLa land has got it wrong with adjacent. What you could do is you could move say 3 to Venzuela from Brazil. And another 3 to say Argentina.(from Brazil) In short you can't move from an an area that you've already put armies in that turn, unless there were armies already in that country.

Hope I made sense there.
