[PC] Missed Turns Stat on profile

I would like to be able to see a player's percent of turns missed and percent of games deadbeated on their profile, and would love to have a setting on my ignore list so that I automatically ignore anyone with a percent higher than what I set.

I feel this is necessary because it seems apparent to me that users occasionally miss a turn for strategic purposes, and I would like to have the ability to avoid playing with such players.

For percent games deadbeated, there should be a separate stat for singles games and team games, because in doubles games some people deadbeat for strategic purposes, as their teammate obtains their territories and battalions.

Edit 11/14/07: After reading this thread, I really feel that my suggestion is of high priority, but it seem to have gone unnoticed by moderators. If you agree with my suggestion, please post, so that this thread might gain appropriate attention.

Priority: 4 out of 5

It's not perfect, but remember, you can read their feedback, and use the Ignore option.

The Feedback Instructions page asks that we not leave negative feedback for missed turns.

I think the deadbeat thing is just as important for team games.

I second this, I would love to see this implemented.

Deadbeaters piss me off to no end.

Only partially related to this thread, but how do you be the last person to join a freestyle game and 1. not take your first turn, and 2.end up missing 3 straight turns?

Happened in this game right here...

My only guess is that he/she didn't like their opening layout, so decided not to play.... which would only be more reason to include this feature I've suggested. That reason still doesn't seem likely, though, considering they seem to have started the game with half of Peloponeses. A multi, maybe?

And Terminator games.

The biggest problem is you won't know WHY someone missed turns. I missed several turns, was kicked out of several games when I first started in CQ because we had a flood in our house, had to move to a hotel on an emergency basis and I had no internet for several days. I notified everybody right away and, thankfully, all seemed understanding (at least no one gave me a neg). Stuff happens .. and sometimes it happens when we are new, sometimes when we have been here a while.

That said, knowing that someone has a HABIT of missing turns would help. A few -- can happen to anyone. A lot-- either means they have significant connection issues (constant power outages, lack of computer access, etc.) OR that they are intentionally using this tactic. Either way, I can see why some folks might wish to take a "pass" on those folks. The key is to set the threshhold relatively high so you catch the real problems and don't delete the majority who will, inevitably miss a few turns, even "deadbeat" occasionally, but who don't make a habit of it.

For that reason, if this is used, I would suggest a percentage value rather than a straight numerical value for the screen-out feature.

Stats should be shown as the current "percent wins" are shown:
X Games missed out of Y turns total (%)
X Games deadbeated out of Y games total (%)

the problem is some of the missed turns/deadbeats are ACTUALLY accidental. there was a time last year i missed like 20 turns due to loss of power for a day.

I understand that, but when a person's rate is abnormally high, there is a greater chance that they are not accidental. With the feedback system, people are bound to receive feedback taht they don't deserve, but the system is still helpful. Perhaps a link next to the stat to show all associated games (the games that were deadbeated/the games that were turns were missed) would be helpful, so that it can easily be seen what the missed turns have in common. If all the missed turns were on the same day, then I know it was probably out of the player's control. If I see that the player regularly deadbeats terminator games more than others, or is playing games the same time that his/her missed turns were available, then it is apparant that these were not accidental.

keep in mind that deadbeating terminator games still results in a loss of points now

Okay, well that is good to know. And in that case, this suggestion may be less urgent. But my point remains...
