Playing for money insted of points [rejected]

This is my idea. Insted of playing for points every player can bet a some money into the game. The winner of the game takes the prize (perhaps CC would take some sort of rake if it expensiv to make it happen)

This way we could have a earnings top scoringboard too.

I know: Another reason to cheat. But it can be limited to 1v1 games since there would be no point in cheating yourself out of money.

It would perhaps even be possible to make it so you can bet 1:1 or 2:1 or any ratio you want.

It is not important but could be a nice feature.

Import: (if 1 is the lowest) 1

i think it's safe to say this is never going to happen.

a few problems.
1. i don't know where CC is registered (most likely canada) and what are the gambling regulations there but i'm sure lack doesn't want to pay extra taxes and all that. in my country all the revenues of a gambling company are considered to come from gambling and are taxed accordingly. so they pay higher taxes even for the brandy you buy at the bar. if canada has the same law's then lack might have to pay higher taxes for premium fees and for the merchandise in the store. when compared to the profits he will make from the small fee he takes from each bet i'm sure he will come at a big loss. you work as a croupier so you should know that the house wins most bets that's why they afford paying huge taxes but if your idea is implemented then lack won't win any bets he will just get a small %.
2. we already have a large number of complaints on the dice. imagine what would be if those dice cost you 100$
3. same thing with abusers. imagine how much cursing will happen when money is involved.

if you want to play for money do it the classic way. texas hold'em with a bunch of friends. max bet 50 cents. you'll have lots of fun and in the end of the night you might even come up with a few bucks to pay for the booze on the next night.

i do this with my friends. we have a drinking/smoking/eating budget and we split that evenly. at the end of the night we enter the numbers in a chart and use the money to buy supplies for next time.

I know. But it would be fun.

And I know it would be hard to regulate it but perhaps not as hard as you think. I dont know for the US rules but a plain site within the EU where players cometogehter and makes bets (without interference from the site) would be easy and legal.

And the best part.... You dont have to pay taxes for it!

(but I know it will not happen... I am just tired of playing poker or other games for money. We have alot of sites where you can play games for money and "the site" takes 50% of the bet. That is sick!)

if you play for money on the internet than all i can say is that you're wasting your time.

the whole fun is when you have a big pile of chips on the table. there's a dim light in the room. clouds of cigar smoke, brandy in the glasses and a deadly silence. and you see that all awaited twitch in the corner of your opponents mouth. you know his bluffing. so you accept his all-in. a drop of sweat comes running down your forehead. he throws the cards. 2 jacks and you have triple 7s. with sweaty palms you grab the chips and drag them in front of you.

this is the fun of gambling. not siting on your couch with the laptop on your knees clicking a mouse.

I dont play poker any more since it is boring (and i am to cheap..)

And I work in a casino. And let me tell you.... it is not so fun after a while. Even as a player or dealer... Cant stand being in a casino for atleast a year!

EDIT:

Due to forum rules I take it back.

But still strange: It is not ok in the forum. But it is ok outside of the forum?

So in a PM?

Well.. I will not take this up any more

I do understand that is not allowed to make bets in the thread. But the discussion about the possibilities to insert such a feature would be allowed.

So a discussion about how to make this happen should be ok and not "rejected" just beacuse it takes up the discussion about betting.

But since the latest post were a challange and an accept I do agree it was out of bound. But not the thread from start.

Sadly because there are a lot of US players on here and US law (I think still) makes online gambling illegal, well, then, that would be a bit of a problem with the whole gambling thing....that's one reason why that rule went in. Now, if you wanted to offer Lack copious amounts of money for rights to the code, move to Bulgaria, set up a semi-legal betting operation and steal people's identities while you are at it, well then, perhaps we can work something out :)

It's a great idea, sadly it can't happen

Well. I have an empty apartment in mid-stockholm. 2 rooms. Great kitchen. Balcony. 20 feet to buses and subways. Quick internet access.
He can do it from here ;)

and I know. Kinda strange how an open country like US has outlawed onlie betting. It is even allowed in Sweden..

If you think the United States is "open" compared to the EU then you have a few misconceptions to clear up :P
