Extension

Subject>: Extension in speed games

* Suggestion Idea: Extension in speed games, more time less crime!

* Specifics: Now we are all familiar with the new game update the speed games... what we dont know is that if ur wife is nagging , or u have to go shit and come back to the game u will miss ur turn ... and that will tolerate with alot of players meaning we need a 5 min extension from time to time
Example: i started my turn .... and the door bell is ringing ... i still have 1 min on the clock .... i need to go open the door... i came back and i have missed my turn... then afterwards i get a negative feedback saying i deadbeated my go so i can get multiple armies which is not true... because i had to go open the door... ( u get the point)

* Why it is needed: a 5 min extension after u start ur turn could be a lot of use ... at least the feedback u receive is more justified ... if u missed ur turn and did not use ur extension it means u missed it on purpose and u deserve a negative ... some turns when u r going on a rampage .. they take more then 5 min ... so u need more time .... i think u get the point.

Scale : 4/5... it is very important i think!

Chess

Kill the wife, leave the door open before each game and play while sitting on the crapper - no problem

Seriously there needs to be changes to speed games, especially escalating, variable timings would be the obvious answer. At the moment they are simply gimmicks but people seem to like them so I doubt anything will change in a hurry.Serious players will continue to avoid them like the plague but Lack wont care because he knows he has our money each year anyway

Personally, i disagree. Speed games are intended to be speedy. People seem determined to slow them down all the time. i already find players that take the whole five minutes to play there turn annoying.

In your case, the feedback (i would guess) could be removed for not being factual. IE, you did NOT get extra armies....you got the same armies as if you didnt miss your turn. Plus, its for a trivial reason (like missing a turn).

The problem here relates to the 'extra armies for missed turns' discussion, not to speed games.

As for the points about, getting extra time for eliminating someone. Thats a different matter, and could probably be a useful function.

Becuase speed games are cool.

The odd time that I would play a Speed game.. I hardly ever need the 5 minutes to take my turn.

I just think it as a normal turn. No worries there. Except for when it gets down to 10 seconds, which is why you make them freestyle

Just set the time limit as an option. 5-minute rounds, 10-minute rounds, and (maybe) 15-minute rounds. Some people like the the 5-minute round types. I personally have avoided speed games because I know I will take more than five minutes on a turn on occasion (especially if it's on a larger map....not every RT is on Doodle Earth or something else as small). If people still want to play the five-minute round speed games, that's great, and that option should be there for them. But some people either won't or can't play 5-minute rounds. Why alienate them?

I agree entirely. What I had been looking for with speed games was a short time period between turns (say 5 minutes) rather than the short time period for the turns themselves. It just seems too hectic for my liking.

This is one instance where Landgrab is actually ahead of us. They, I think, can specifically choose their round length
