Suggestion: Clicking on Join A Game defaults to Speed Games

As a new player (joined yesterday), I was anxious to get my feet wet and start playing immediately. I clicked "Join a Game" and signed up for the first 4 games with interesting maps that I saw.

It's the next day, and I've made 2 moves. For you experienced players, this is no big deal. But for new players, the lack of immediate gratification takes some getting used to. I can totally understand why lots of new players join a game, sit there for a few minutes, notice that the game is going to take a while to get going, and immediately get turned off and never return. I think to help combat this, default the "Join a Game" link to point to "Join a Speed Game" - give new players immediate satisfaction and experience playing, and immediately see what players will be deadbeats and give negative feedback within 15 minutes, not several days later.

I know I'm new and my suggestion may fall on deaf ears, but I'm in 4 games with 6 players each and have a lot of time on my hands!

Oh. Well, shoot. Nevermind.

I just wish I would have known to look for 2-3 player games with people with ratings when I first joined games. Oh well, maybe I'll finish a game by October.

don't worry the games on classic and ireland are escalating and they will finish rather fast.

Yeah, a lot of people dislike the speed game being exclusively for premiums. I have a few friends who I'd play speed games with but can't since they are regulars, it's kind of disappointing. Of course if you co-ordinate it right you don't need to play speed games, you can get a regular game done in an hour or so.

but anyone new won't cordinate it. Maybe that should have like 4 free speeds games, then you must pay, that would be a great teaser.

really the no rush of 24 hrs to make your turn is what makes CC better than most board game sites. in others you feel pressured to take your turn in under a minute and have no time to plan and strategize. it is a blessing in disguise.
