freestyle - turn missing solution

Suggestion Idea: when a player starts his turn regardless of the clock counter, the other player automatically gets 24 hours to take his turn.
Specifics: let's say player A and player B have started a 1v1 freestyle. B takes his turn when the game is initialized. if A waits till the lasts seconds of the 24h period then B will miss his turn. instead make it so that when A decides to click begin turn the timer is reset to 24 hours.
Why it is needed: to avoid people from forcing their opponents into missing their turn.

How will A miss his turn if he has already taken it?

i haven't said A will miss his turn. in fact i said A will force B to miss his turn by taking his at the last seconds of the 24h time frame.

This is ridiculous, if you don't like this hole in the system then dont play freestyle

Your example is a bit off. B would start his turn and finish right when the game started. A would then make his turn and finish. Now B can wait almost 24 hours to force the other player to lose their turn.
"That's the beast of freestyle" is not a way to produce a fun atmosphere for new and old members. Having 30 seconds to take your turn is not fun, nor is it anywhere in the realm of fair.
I like this idea. It would still allow freestyle to be freestyle while eliminating the ability to abuse it.

ya, but if you dont like this in a 1v1 game, then play sequential, thats essentially what it is

Freestyle is ridiculously fun to play and adds an entire new level of play style that cannot be duplicated while playing any board game. Eliminating potential abuse is a huge step in the right direction to getting more people playing freestyle.
misterman10 wrote:ya, but if you dont like this in a 1v1 game, then play sequential, thats essentially what it is
No, it's not. You can't play at the exact same time as your opponent in sequential. Abuse is not what defines Freestyle.

smart remark mate.
why not improve the freestyle? why leave it as it is?
as treefiddy said above if this suggestion is implemented the fun of freestyle still remains.
you still can take your turns at the same time as your opponent but the bug is removed.

ya, but it is actually just like sequential then. I have seen too many people complain about the freestyle bug in 1v1's when all they have to do is play sequential. I know that you want to keep the simultaneous play in freestyle, and in that case I suggest you find a friend on CC, or some trustworthy people to play with

you don't get it.
the difference between freestyle and sequential is that in sequential you take your turn then i take mine then you take yours and so on.
in freestyle we can both take our turns at the same time. BUT if i'm a jerk then i can force you to miss a turn by taking mine at the end of the 24 hours. with my suggestion freestyle remains the same meaning we can still take our turns at the same time but i will no longer be able to force you to miss your turn. it's simple. keep the fun but remove the pain.

i DON'T play freestyle i believe less than 5% of my games are freestyle. so i don't need to find someone trustworthy. the only reason i want this implemented is because people abuse this to get free points from unsuspecting noobs.

Just seems kindof crappy to me. This abuse is the exact reason why
I made this suggestion.
CC was introduced on a different forum I visit and the new recruits that came from that site either had the belief that Freestyle would be faster, or they just hit two players and didn't care to move any of the other buttons. One of them ended up in two different games where their opponent used this tactic, and another had a player known for using this tactic join their game. Essentially a no-win situation.
This shouldn't be something that another experiment needs to be done on.

Not to mention that if you leave negative feedback, it'll either be deleted by a moderator or a negative will be given back due to them complaining about it in chat (as most people normally do about a tactic like this).

Some of these haven't even been abused yet, but it's easy to spot the ones that will.

I did not realize you could play at the exact same time as your opponent in sequential.

I agree with DiMs proposal it would make freestyle a lot more appealing option to many especially weaker players like myself. You get to make simultaneous moves which obviously you can't do in sequential, but a more experienced player will no longer be able to manipulate the rules (quite legally) to in effect make you miss or fail to complete your turn. the other plus this would have is you can still start quickly and break a defence if you are lucky which obviously would not be possible if you were playing sequential.

The same thing can happen in larger freestyle games when it's down to 2 players, so even when you're not playing 1v1 you can fall victim to this, and at a time when it is most important not to miss turns.

i like the idea.
I have fallen victim to this bug but what you need to do is google world clock.
If it happens to you then in the next round make sure to play your shot at a time when it will be 3am for the other player. :p

Just to point out. This bug is really being abused in the speed game area. With 5 minutes its even easy to screw people over.

then just have this suggestion go into effect when it is down to two players.

for all players incl. wicked, who say that it is named Sequential, or say its only a 1 vs 1 problem, its not, even when playing with 3 players, i have problems with it or with doubles or triples,
i am not 24 hours up or at the computer, so even if they want to play fair you can miss a turn because look at this:
round 1 -24 hours left-
*** plays 20 hours left
*** plays 16 hours left
wisse plays (i plays as the last one)
round 2 -24 hours left-
*** plays -12 hours left-
*** plays -10 hours left-
wisse missed a turn
why? well because i have to sleep and go to school too wich takes more than 12 hours...
but if i had 24 hours after *** played his turn i wouldn't missed my turn
thats why i don't play freestyle.
i sure love to play at the same time, but i don't like loosing my turn, or have to play before i go to school

I don't play freestyle but it will fix the loophole.
Sounds good.
