Team Sequential Turn Mode *Rejected*

I'm not sure if this has been discussed before. A search for this topic would produce nothing, so please no "Do a search." flames.

I think it would be interesting to have a turn style that is sort of a mix between sequential and freestyle. The way it would work is every person of one team would have a turn at the same time, then the next team would have a turn for all of its members as soon as the first team ended. So it is sequential except a full team will have a turn instead of just one person of a team.

I play mostly freestyle doubles. Sequential doubles tends to get boring having one turn every two or three days. Freestyle tends to be hectic when four or six people are taking a turn at the same time.

I'm curious if this has been discussed before, and what the thoughts on this subject were.

This used to be how team sequential games worked. The order of play in triples went:
Player 1
Player 2
Player 3
Player 4
Player 5
Player 6

That way, each team got 3 turns in a row, and the starting team usually had a big advantage if they got to play all 3 turns before the opponent even had 1. I looked up a few old topics that suggested a new system be implemented.

And here's the Announcement thread from when Lack changed it to the current system.

Now the order for a triples game looks something like this:
Player 1
Player 4
Player 2
Player 5
Player 3
Player 6

Some people disagreed with it at first, but overall I think the games are much more fair and I would hate to revert back to the old way.

Thanks for the links, Iceman.

I agree that whoever has the first turn has the advantage, but that still applies with the way the turn system is now in all gametypes. Besides, you can easily join a freestyle game that has been sitting there a while and take the first turn when your team joins. There really is no way of preventing that.

Perhaps the best method would be to allow anyone from the game to click in first, and whichever team the player who clicks in first is on will receive the first turn. If your team doesn't click in first, your team will have to wait until the other team is finished.

There really is no way to remove the advantage that the first turn gives you. The sequential style that is in place now minimizes the advantage, but I'm not saying do away with the current sequential. I'm just saying we should add another option for the team sequential turn method.

The main reason I think this would be fun and effective as an extra option is because I enjoy being able to fortify with my teammates in the same turn. You can funnel your troops through each other in one turn instead of multiple turns. That, of course, applies more to unlimited fortification, however, but plenty of people prefer unlimited fortifications.

We got rid of this because it was too unfair. It's to often only fun for the first team!

yeah, if the first team takes freestyle turns at the same time and the other team can't even move yet there's almost no chance for the second team

That's my point. Freestyle already allows this to an extent. The last team to join (if they join together of course) gets the first turn advantage anyway. They all take their turn and end while Team 1 isn't even around. The only way this doesn't happen is if it's a match or a tournament game and both teams are there ready to play real-time.

Yes the first team to take a turn has the advantage, but, if it's setup to where the first person to click in gets first turn for their team, I believe that is fair game.

It's not like if we don't have team sequential the first team to take a turn advantage is nonexistant. A team sequential turn style would actually eliminate double turns too.
