Move frequency indicator

Would it be possible to show how often a player moves? It'd let you know if a player moves once a day or multiple. Would be nice for joining games in the open forum. Might even be able to avoid some of the deadbeats.

How often a player moves is strongly dependent on whether or not his opponents move. This system would be inaccurate, at best.

i like it.

i'd have to disagree with the burn-man on this one. i'd love it if every player could choose an indicator to be place next to their name to show if they are able to move either once a day, multiple times per day, or all day. it would be easier for players to group themselves with others who can move at the same rate. of course, ones location plays a big part in this as well. maybe these indicators can help those who can't necessarily play a rt game at the moment, but don't want to be moving only once a day.

afterthought: maybe an easy location indicator as well? (besides in our profile)

Something like this for moves.

Total moves: 124
blah blah blah 3 move per day

I think this would be a great addition to ones profile.

Maybe even number of games and an average of how many days each game was.

as for the idea, I think this would be a false stat just like others said. How often you make a move depends on how often the others in your game make a move. Plus, people who play more games will have a higher frequency of playing then people who play less games, even if the person with less games is more actively on the site.

There is another thread about this if I remember right. There was quite a bit of support for this idea.

It would depend on how often others make their moves, but it could help you find games with people who make moves more often.

This is why I suggested moves per game compared to how many days a game takes. I like this idea, but it does have its cons. I need to find that other thread to see what others have said about this idea.

its not a flawless system, but we gotta try something. if you're able to use it to get even just one game with everyone making frequent moves, then it would be worth it.

.

BTW

I just found/joined last Friday and I was just eliminated from my first game today. :) I've been playing a similar board game for a while now and the strategy of this game keeps me entertained. Since i'm not premium yet I can only have four active games at a time...sooooo....I have plenty of time to chat it up in the forums.

No,
It would get into how many people don't have lives, which is wrong.
If I have a life, and can only check the games once a day, then why am I going to get penalized against someone else who can check 9 or 10 times, because they don't log out ;)

And how would you work it if you don't log out, do you not check your games?

And also, to the people who put the "Turns taking indicator" like the posts indicator, for most of us with 700+ games, the number would reach millions by the time its said and done.

I would never look at this, so I'm a nay sayer' but hey, who am I.

personally, i'm not talking about something to indicate how often you have moved in the past. i'm talking about a small icon next to a players name that are selected by users to indicate how frequently they expect to move in the future.
it could look like this:
Image - All day
Image - Multiple a day
Image - Once a day

i play chess on RedHotPawn.com (which i have the same handle in case you want to battle), and they use this system. i know it's completely different cause you only have one opponent. but like i said before, we gotta try somethin.

I play during my work day. thats 8 hours, if i happen to meet someone who plays only outside of those hours he can wait almost 14 hours before i move. am i quick or slow?

IF you would move during my hours, i´d be watching you mave and take mine asap. Nothing in your proposal is new, but the problem is old.
You are better of placing these kind of things in your profile.

If it is a PERSONAL indicator, and not one provided by the site, this might fly, but if the site has to indicate it, then probably not ;)

I'm not saying people should be penalized for not making frequent moves. It would be nice to see some sort of indicator of the amount of times they move. If you're looking to join a game and are able to move multiply times a day it would be nice to be able to find like players. An indicator would let you know without having to check all of the games a certain player has been in or sit around waiting in the chat room. This would also be a useful tool in avoiding deadbeats or the people who miss turns on purpose to mulitply armies.
