Advanced XML Testing

Ability for map makers to test out their map’s XML via the site. EG: attacking and fortifying to make sure all territories are connected correctly and/or bonuses setup properly.

I think there should be very serious consideration given to a more thorough testing of maps before they are uploaded. At the very least, there should be a way for map makers to full test their XML before uploading. Checking by reading through the XML works ok, but honestly being able to play test a map before it is uploaded is so much better.

In theory, the map could be uploaded the same way as it is now, but maybe only Lack or Andy would be able to start the games for the mapmaker to test out these things. I think testing for XML purposes is very important, but in the future it could possibly be used to test out the gameplay of the map before being put out for live play.

I think it’s pretty important as new maps are coming out fairly quickly, and this could be a step towards making new maps even better. At the least, it will prevent problems with XML where people are playing the map with an incorrect structure. This is especially important because of the advances in the capabilities of the XML. Yes. Taking more time to read through the XML will also make sure no problems occur, but with the possibility of being able to play test maps as well, this idea seems important to me.

Priority – I think 5 but could be anywhere from 2 to 4 I suppose ?

I concur - my map beta testing thread seems to have fallen by the wayside...

I hate bumping for the sake of bumping, but maybe others will comment on this.

We aren't doing this for the time being. There are too many difficulties to work out and the Foundry Foreman and myself feel that live play is actually the best way to flesh out the bugs quickly.
