Problem with PM messaging [Rejected]

A few days ago my account here was made inactive. While inactive, an account has a number of restrictions eg:
Cant start new games
Cant post or vote in forum
Cant PM

Most of these would be expected however, i think that inactive accounts should be able to PM. I appealed via FAQ/Contact tab but communication was made very difficult.

PMs are a way to talk directly to a member of staff. This can be very useful, as you can talk directly to the person that inactivated you, without the need to dislose a personal e-mil addresses.

Just looking for other opionions really

As I've never been banned, I don't know what it's like. What I do know, however is that in order to make an account here, you would have had to include a valid email address. I do know, however is that the mods will not give out your email. EVER. They will not abuse it in anyway.

It was only difficult for you since you didn't use a legit email address. Sorry, but we're not changing it. It's easy enough to make a new legit email address that you can use just for contacting CC if needbe.

i recieved a PM before you(?) inactivated me saying i had an invalid email address. You must therefore have tried sending me an email which is what i want to avoid. i agree i could create a web-based account to use only with CC but it seems very unneccesery.

Ok so i never really expected it to get changed but i was hoping to get more of an explanation as to why an inactive account cant PM.

Why is this the case?

Because your account is inactive. Why should an inactive account be able to do anything? PMing is exactly the same as emailing, so why can't you just email them?

If you don't feel comfortable sharing your true email with us, then I don't feel comfortable letting you play on my server.

lol but your not answering my question. With the PM system you can talk directly to a particular member of staff. Using and email address just means talking to "admin" and in my experience getting no respose at all. Even now when i am active and able to read PMs "admin" has not responded.

That is because "admin" is just an automated system and will not respond to pm's.

Incorrect. Admin account is forwarded to the appropriate mod, depending on who is tasked with what you're contacting about. The time of response depends on the mod, not on "admin".

If you account has been inactivated, you have no privileges here, and that includes PMs. For busted multis, and even for feedback moderation now, correspondence is handled through email. If you want to buck the system, feel free, but you won't get a response from admin that way.

OK thanks for your help. I suppose another way to approach this would be to allow an inactive account to read PMs, but not send them. This would mean an inactive account could send messages via FAQ/Contact and read the replies in ther PM inbox, without having the "PM privilige" This would improve communication between staff and players.

What do people think of this idea?

Also, not sure what you mean by "buck the system" wicked. I am looking for ways to improve it

Thanks, Rocketry

because he expects special treatment. everyone else can work within the system, and use a proper email, except him, hence my "bucking the system" comment.

ok no worries. just thought it would improve the site a little.

and remember, bucking the system will only make it stronger

Incorrect. Suggestions lead to improvements, which make the site better. Doing your own thing just because you want to only leads to headaches for all.

Dude, just use a regular email address. What's the problem? This seems like such a minor annoyance.

If you had your account disabled for some reason, it ought to be a pain in the a$$ to talk to the moderators.

Keep within the rules, provide a legit email addy, all seems like normal, realistic expectations of behavior on a site such as this.

Sometimes we forget that after all is said and done, reasonable behavior is the solution to many of our problems. :D
