Concise description:- add a new tag to let us know if a player reveals fog positions in game
Specifics/Details:- revealing fog positions in game are not against the rules, at present there is no tag to say if a player does this all the time.i sug adding a tag for this or changing one of the present tags to this..
How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:- many of us think doing this is underhand and do not want to join games with people who do it, Games were it happens spoils the fun of the fog setting and some players change the chat into flaming of others.. it will also benefit the site by allowing the creator of the game to enjoy it the way it was meant to be played, also alerting others that these players don't respect the fog rule.

There is already an existing sugg in re of game tags...
The one we really need is "missed turn" or "deferred troops BS". But I guess we can use "cheap tactics" for that and for breaking fog too.

disagree. the whole idea of Game Chat is to negotiate and communicate to opponents and possible allies. Allies share intel.

There is no point to ~FOW games then, although not against the rules, it is highly irritating

Agreed. I've never had a problem with anyone saying anything in a fog game. You can easily twist it around to benefit you if you are smart enough.

Thirded, it's the difference between diplomacy, which is part of the game, and secret diplomacy, which is rightly against the rules. As long as everyone can see it in chat, it's fair game and should be part of your arsenal in Fog of War games.

There should be a medal for revealing fog. Bronze if you reveal in a foggy game. Silver if you do it out of spite or some other petty reason. Gold if you do it while a multi involved in a point farming scam.

fog was intended to be played by each player or team, I would say the medal that should be given to those who negotiate or reveal what they know is a ban from fog games. Now thats a medal.
If you want to negotiate in a game dont get into fog games. I will foe your ass for it quick, dont care who you are

Of course you're welcome to foe away, but it just isn't cheating. If it was the original intention to completely block diplomacy, game chat would have been disabled entirely except for, perhaps, team chat (though I note, you seem to also want to ban intra-team revealers).
But anyway, negotiations and diplomacy are a part of any game.

yes diplomacy is but if a fog setting is picked then all you need to do is say we need to concentrate on blue or wow thats big... i'll give you 2 examples on of how you should and 1 of how you should not.
green blue has a stack of 85 on magadan
green i need help blue is stacked.
2nd one is the ok one because it is not revealing troup position or troup count. were as the first 1 is.. why did mods go to the effort of hiding troup count on the game panel if it was ok for anybody just to say it ????

Not sure if I'm reading you right on this, but diplomacy allows any kind of sharing of information, as long as it's done publicly. If you dislike the way that a person conducts diplomacy, then that should be treated the same way as someone who breaks a truce. Foe and move on.

i think the suggestion here is not whether giving out said information is "right" or "wrong", but instead, simply having a tag in the ratings section to label people who do give out a bunch of information. wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing to have. it would just let players know your preferred play style before joining a game. i don't care one way or the other, but it probably wouldn't hurt anything to have a tag.

hi all....i would really like some help with what is too revealing and what is acceptable, in chat in fog games,,,,,,,,,cos there seems to be a variety of levels of acceptability, which are different with different sets of players but which also vary by map and within the same game. For instance, in the map the third crusade there is a combination win......in many fog games it has appeared acceptable to all players to provide feedback and intel as to combi win positions.
PARAMETERS,,,is what i would like to know,,,before anyone be labelled, should not the guide to good practice be written about fog games?

Short answer, for me, anything goes as long as it's not done in secret. You might earn some foes, but it's not against the rules as long as all players can see it.
Longer answer, don't make any deals or share information that can't be seen by all the players in the game. Unless, of course, you are team-mates. Then you can share info with each other as long as the game lasts.
That's about it.

Yeah, I agree with Symmetry. I've been in games where a player will get all butt hurt because info was given out in game chat. That's just diplomacy. I understand some people don't like to play this way, so I will usually defer to the maker of the game. I also think that people who reveal info in chat don't always realize that it may be to their disadvantage. You get to know something about another player that perhaps no one else knows. It might be a good idea to keep that to yourself.
But I will never keep information to myself if it is going to cost me the game regardless of what the creator of the game wants. If I see that a player is setting up to kill me, and I know that another player can't see this, AND I think I can persuade the other player to help me, then I will give as much information as necessary 100% of the time.
