Round limit and assassin games

Concise description:
As it stands right now the player with the most troops in an assassin game wins, however if a player is aiming to take out his opponent and gets his opponent down to 1 troop, shouldn't that player win? I would think that since the game is about eliminating ones target the player that gets the closest too it should win?

Specifics/Details:
Its very straight forward

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
Things will make sense then.

I also support this. The person who's target has the lowest number of troops is the winner in assassin games.

I agree, but I think the difference between the number of troops each player by the number of his target is more fair to determine the winner

Eq. : Player A has 10 troops and his target has 2. Player B has 20 troops and his target has 3. Who has better chance to win?

Side Note :

In the first the round limit was introduced with the aim as the solution of a never-ending game, because the CC does not know the term draw. Then the round limit is evolving into a goal to win a game, which created certain strategies. Thus arises the problem of who exactly is entitled to be a winner.

Then came many suggestions to determinate who should be the winner if the round-limit has been reached, there are suggestions for assassins game, terminator, team, etc. The moderator this sub-forum should merge them together, then let us decide or vote or discuss them and in the end let the site-admin/webmaster decide.

Just my 2 cents ;)

Have you ever seen an assasin game ends because of the round limit?

It makes sense, but at the same time, it can be hard. Just because the player with the least amount of troops is closest to losing, doesn't mean he will. All depends on where his last troops/tert is. Like, Player X could have 2 troops, but is half way across the board, and hiding behind someone's big stack, and Player Y could have 3 troops, and is right beside his assassin.

Only reason I posted this is I saw one that I wasn't playing in and it ended from round limit.

This suggestion is saying the person with the least amount of troops has lost. If its round limit there is no further game play, so no ability to better your position ever. Its fair that the most eliminated player loses and so their assasin wins. Or you would have to play assasin like any other game and just collect troops.

Also, potential postion should not really be applied, or you would have to award a win to someone in an objective game "as they were nearest the objective and would have got it even though someone had more troops on the wrong part of the board". And that opens up too many arguments which people will be happy to have.

This topic does have some limited support, but there is far from a consensus and discussion seems to have died out. I also just searched for finished Assassin games with a 20 round limit. Out of the first 500 games, I found 1 instance of the round limit being reached. Trench has changed things a bit and I see 3 occurrences in the last 100 completed assassin games that reached Round 20. But this is still a relatively rare issue, and should probably fall under the category of be careful of the settings you choose for joining or starting games.

Moved to REJECTED.
