If a turn is begun but no armies are deployed, they are lost

Postby drose on Sun Apr 01, 2007 10:21 pm

Please standardise on either losing or rolling over the armies in both cases.

If a player skips a turn, they get the armies next go. However, if they click 'begin turn' then perform no other actions, after the timeout the armies are lost. I missed out on 7 armies in game 278997 like this.

I think the armies hsould be lost in both cases, but a sudden change in game behaviour like this would disappoint many users, so perhaps rolling over in both cases is the best option; a decision should be made if we will also allow players partial deployment, holding a reserve of armies for later turns.

Perhaps it should be a deployment option, like fortification is.

The current behaviour is inconsistent, and it means that someone who _tries_ to have a go is worse off than another player who doesn't even bother.

Priority 3 I reckon.

If you received them, then you can take the next 5 seconds to deploy them. If you're trying to squeeze in deployment in the last 5 seconds of the round, then, well... don't. You'd be just acting silly. Just collect your x2 bonus next round.

I don't think you understand.

Scenario:

1) Click begin turn

2) Think carefully about armies. 3 or 5? Here or there?

3) Use bucket of mop water to put out burning dog

4) Look after dog, soothe and bandage wounds

5) clean up mop water

6) Now where was I... Oh, crap. I missed my go.

Something like that.

I quite often click begin turn and then before I have a chance to deploy my armies, our power goes off or Conquer Club stops working. I think any undeployed armies should be carried over.

I dont think any of the armies should be rolled over. It would encourage people to be a little more diligent about taking their turn if this were so. Right now they get rewarded for skiping a turn early in the game some use this as a strategy. It is rude and inconsiderate of the others in the game, why reward this behavior! No roll over at all!

Solution: Convince your dog to quit his firefighting day job and urge him to consider higher education or a fast-paced career in the information technology sector.

Alternatively, take some time to consider where to deploy the armies before you hit "begin turn" and then deploy them immediately

I agree completely, it's hard to tell when it's strategy and when it's deadbeat players.

I'm happy with no rollover at all, but I don't think the wider community will ever go for it.

Your dog caught on fire....

I have experienced a similar (however quite less dramatic) situation where I begin the turn, just as my internet cuts out and can;t get it to work until after the armies have timed out.

However I don't think a change is nessecary, in 99.9% of stitations, people have the time to deploy the armies, and if you miss them then its not like its the end of the world.
