Changing the fourth quad color from yellow to dark purple

Color Change On Quads Games

Problem

Occasionally during a quads game I'll be on the red/green/blue/yellow team and I'll hit yellow (my own teammate). Besides the obvious lack of attention to detail, I believe there are a couple more subtle reasons for this.

Suggestion/Solution

1. Red, Green, Blue are harder colors whereas the enemy pink, cyan (light blue), (mid-light) orange, silver (somewhat light gray) are much softer colors. My mind sees the hard to soft discrepancy and naturally assumes for a moment that the very hard to see yellow is part of the other team. The yellow is even lighter than the rest of their colors and so I think that takes away the instinct to second guess in that unfortunate moment.

2. Yellow is on team 2 in trips games! If you got some trips games going and its red, green, blue versus the lighter colors inc. yellow then its easy to forget that yellow is now on your team.

Conclusion

I'm not saying this is a mistake that I make often. But it's a mistake I've probably made 5 or 6 times now in my CC career and I think that I may have made it zero times if that 4th color in quads game was the more logical dark purple (and not the soft yellow). I think there are some other players out there that have made the same mistake and never bothered to piece it together why they made the mistake. But if they thought about it now then they would agree that dark purple is the better option for the fourth player in quad games. Heck you could still have yellow - just put him on the soft color side.

Meh, I feel like it'll get too often confused with Blue

We could just add black.

Also, we need to save for some colors for the accepted 12 players suggestion.

If that happens before our color system become obsolete, that is.

I'd say cross that bridge when you come to it. For now I think for the reasons I stated, going from yellow to a dark color for the fourth player would improve things. Is it critical? Not so much. Just a mere improvement.

I know you've probably been recommended this countless times, but just flicking on colour codes for those particular problematic turns really helps.

Uh no. I had no doubt that I was attacking yellow when I attacked. In your spirit of talking down, perhaps you should reread (read) the OM.

What makes a different colour more suitable, then, if it's not to do with what the colour looks like?

If it's not to do with subtle differences in the colours, it seems to me like you need to use just a tad more of that little brain (come on, you can do it!) and pay attention to the game type.

It works in reverse too. I'm used to yellow being quads team 1 and in a trips quad 2 game with yellow on my team 2 I just attacked my own teammate. I don't understand why there has been no response to this. It can't be hard to change the colors.

Uggh. Did it again. I was on team 1 of a quads game and I attacked red (my own team), the darker color (Yellow is part of light team in trips). It just makes no sense to me, why yellow is part of the darker team. It's not a balance. And I'm sure there are others like me making the mistake even if they're not coming to the forum and saying so.

I see 1 vote sort of against, 1 alternative suggestion and little else that's relevant. As such this is moved to REJECTED

My personal opinion (not affecting this move), is that completely changing the colors would tick a lot of people off. Also, I'm sympathetic to the concern about it being confused with blue.
