Redeployment when someone starts with a continent

<Subject>:

* When the initial deployment of the countries is done, the server should check whether someone starts with a whole continent. If so, then the deployment should be deleted and a new one should be created.

<Body>:

* Why it is needed:

It is an unfair advantage when someone starts with a whole continent. That is something that we would just restart when playing a boardgame of RISK

* Priority** (1-5): 3

Although I see your point - sometimes this happens... and where should you draw the line? It's a lot easier to get Australia in a classic game but nigh on impossible to get anything bigger - that's just the way the cookie crumbles!

I don't agree, I think he is right.
For the server program to reset the match is nothing, the players could even never see it, it's just a matter of updating the game script to restart all the distribution before starting the match.
It isn't needed that anybody see it was restarted.

NO! Please, every once in a blue moon, it's nice to be the guy who starts with ownership of an entire country! Consider it a rare reward for playing so many games.

Also, I don't mind when someone else starts with a continental bonus for three reasons:

(a) ALLIANCE! Alliances are often formed when a number of "weaker" players decides that the "strongest" player is the largest mutual threat, and therefore should be eliminated before turning on the others. Owning an entire continent at the start of the game effectively puts a big sign on you that says: "ATTACK ME!"

(b) BELLICOSE PRE-EMPTIVE REPRISAL! When everyone sees that one player owns an entire continent at the start of the game, the other players usually gang up on the lucky continent-owner and attack the continent to prevent them from getting the bonus.
(This doesn't work when the first player to go owns the continent.)

(c) CHALLENGE! I enjoy playing a game when my opponent has an advantage, because if I win, the victory is far more meaningful and well-deserved (and if I loose, I can always blame my opponent's advantage :lol: )

Its not an unfair advantage. Do you restart when someone get 3 of the 4 countries in Aussie? Or 3 of the 4 in SA? That is an unfair advantage also. It's also an unfair advantage in a set game when one player has a 4 trade and the others get 10 trades. Luck of placement is part of the game just like luck of the cards and luck of the dice.

sure. luck in placement is part of the game.
and I agree, that in a normally played game, the other players might take care of that.

But I think there is a big difference to getting 3 of 4 territories in Australia for example.
The difference is: the other players have a full turn to prevent the given player from getting the bonus. When someone has a continent from the beginning, (normally) not all players have the chance to prevent that one from getting the bonus.

That is the difference and that is why I would draw the line exactly at having a full continent at the beginning.
