on profile page, "Find all active games"

Concise description:
  • add a 3rd option to everyone's main profile page - "Find all active games with PlayerName"

Specifics/Details:
  • on the main profile page we already have 2 options, "Find all games with PlayerName" and "Show all games together".
the new 3rd option, "Find all active games with PlayerName" would sit next to the previous 2 options.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • it would make it a lot easier to see if someone is running low on time in an active game (so they could be reminded or a sitter could be alerted) without having to scroll back through 27 pages to find that 400+ round, 2 year old game. i can't imagine the coding would be too challenging.
  • it has also been pointed out that this would be a big time saver for tourney organizers, to see whether freemiums have enough available slots to be sent new tourney game invites.
  • if space is an issue you could shorten it to "Active Games" and the other 2 current options could have "Find" and "Show" removed.

I don't know as if this is really necessary, nor used frequently enough to warrant something like this, especially when one can easily use the Game Finder.

I would greatly appreciate this - I also find it a pain to use Game Finder for this - I need to find players' active games if they are freemium and missing tourney invites (to see if they already have 4) or if they don't list a last online and I need to see if they've taken any turns recently or have left the site (in which case I would need to find a replacement).

Plus, as CJ points out, it shouldn't be too difficult to add such a button!

One can (even more) easily use the game finder to find all games with that player, yet that link is on the profile page.

i'd prefer an active games link instead of an all games link.

if it is a space issue on the profile page perhaps they could be swapped.

YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!

It is a frightful pain in the ass, when you are running a tourney with a bunch of freemiums in it, to try to assess whether they have enough slots to handle the next round. I have one tourney currently running with 9 freemiums in it, and going through them all using Game Finder takes forever.

That's because you don't run a lot of tournaments. But just try looking up eight or nine freemium players manually using game finder, especially since it means you have to type their names correctly in the "with player" window, including underscores and whatever else they've put in their names.

I was just thinking this morning that I would like such a button. Of course, it didn't occur to me to come over to the Suggestions forum and suggest it...

Kudos to cachejob for thinking of it! =D>

qwert, your pessimistic replies like this don't add anything to the Suggestions topics...

Rome wasn't built in a day. Even Imperium Romanum wasn't quenched in one day...:-)

I've seen a lot of improvements just in the six months that I've been a member here. They can't implement everything at once, but they seem to be doing a lot.

I guess I could get behind replacing the current button with active games only.

Yeah, it would make sitting another account easier.

So is the main thrust of this suggestion replacing the old button with the new, or adding this third option?

The OP suggests adding it as a third option. I think, however, that victor wants to replace the other button instead. I would support just adding the third button.

If I could only have one or the other, I would definitely pick only an active games button (with or without active games in which that player has been eliminated). I have used the all games button because I've wanted to see a player's history before, but not often enough that a link is necessarily warranted.

i'd prefer adding it as a third option/link. you could shorten it to "Active Games" if you feel space is an issue.
also if space is an issue then the other 2 current options could have "Find" and "Show" removed.

if you're running firefox or google chrome, this is a very handy tool that will help with your problem until something that you are asking comes available.

http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=527&t=97965

it's the watch game add-on. when you view a players profile there is another option; watch all players games. this only selects their "active" games. it places them in a selection box on your game selection screen. the one where it shows "active" "invitations" "awaiting players" "eliminated" "recently finished" "watched"

this is a very functional tool, especially for running tourneys. it's easy to operate and versatile. you can easily select each of your own tournament games and then deselect them. personally, i've just started running tourneys and i don't think i'd want to run one without it. although i do believe the link you are requesting is a useful one, with watch game i don't even need it. because it does just what you are asking. they show up just like they do on your own menu. with times, who's turn is up, everthing. it's also very handy for account sitting.

and also, this is a very helpful thing for tournaments. i hope i'm not wearing you out with all of this, but this one works when you move your mouse over a game link. it shows all the game data. ie. who's eliminated, what round, i think it even shows the time. it too is very helpful, there is no need to click on the game link with it unless you are searching for times or game chat.

http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=527&t=97131

the only thing is you have to change your internet browser if you are not on firefox ot google chrome. which in my opinion is well worth the trouble. just because this tool is so useful for so much more than just what you are specifically requesting.

anyway........... i guess i've rambled on about it enough, but it's just that good.

hope this helps :-^
