Concise description:
  • games larger than 30 territories provide way too large an advantage to the starting player, unless you're going to provide equal starting troops per round, it becomes very frustrating to play

Specifics/Details:
  • provide qualified random games, as in random 30 territories or less, random x number territories or less, etc

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • more satisfied customers who prefer two player games

although i do agree that making 1vs1's on larger maps can give the starting player a huge advantage, it is also true that the startingplayer is determined randomly, so both have an equal chance to have a starting advantage..
So why limit everybody who WANTS to run this risk?

Terrible idea. Limiting the "random" map means that "random" no longer is. If you don't want to play the larger maps, then don't play the "random" selection.

one of my favorite game settings is Random 1v1 no spoils, and i do not support this option. sure, there is always the chance you will get so far behind that the game is lost right away, but thats just a risk you take with random. if you know what you're doing, you can often still come back at some of the larger maps.

random should stay random.

Better idea:
1. Make a list of your 30 favorite maps.
2. Every time you feel like playing a game, go to the random.org list randomizer.
3. Pick whichever map shows up first, or go down the list one by one if that's your style.
4. Problem solved! And the people on this site who actually enjoy random (the majority) can still have fun.

Just so you know, there are only about 5-6 maps that have 30 territories or less. So this would Really really really hamper 1v1 games on the random map.

Random will still stay random, as far as this is concerned.

Rejected.
