Spoils/Map location hover

Postby gevans on Tue Feb 15, 2011 7:50 pm

Concise description:
  • When hovering over a spoil indicate it's location on the map

Specifics/Details:
  • When you have a busy map and 5 spoils in your bag you know it's time to hand 3 in. You may already occupy a few of them but the best spoils to choose can take a little strategic decision making. Because their colours are random (as spoils should be) there is no easy way to find your location on the map, especially when you're a fairly new player and don't know some interesting maps very well. I would suggest a hover state applied to the spoils that would put something as simple as a star or arrow on the correct map location. Or perhaps making the number of troops bold as these position are already built in.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • I feel this would speed up decision making with spoils hugely, and is personally the only time in the game when I have to stare at the map to find somewhere before making a decision, rather than just making a decision on my next move.

This is currently in use with the Firefox/Google chrome Add-on BOB.

Excellent suggestion.

And per the BOB point...that's a valid point, yet not everyone uses Firefox or BOB.

I know, I was making it known to him. Why do you think I kept it out in the open instead of moving it to Implemented?

That's good to know, I will get the app on for google now! Where it would be a great use to me is when I'm using my phone to play on the move. So a version of this built into the site would be fantastic! For now I'll definitely be playing with the app.

Just to put it out there I am a PHP/MySQL/HTML5/CCS3/jQuery developer and if I can ever be of any use I would love to get involved. I realise I'm a very new player but do enjoy a good contribution ;)
