Nuclear RISK!

ok so in this version you can cash cards for NUKES!

5 cards for a NUKE <- A nuke can be launched at any territory on the map and will destroy all armies (including own) within 4-6 territory radius (effectiveness of the nuke is random) ; if there are more than 4 adjoining territories the ones which will be wasted are random as well (only guarantee is the territory the nuke is being launched at). When a nuke hits a territory all armies are decimated and replaced by 1 neutral army. lol.

Nuke can be launched at own territory, and from anywhere to anywhere.

3 cards for an ICBM <- an ICBM will nail 1 territory and replace it with a neutral army.

2 cards for a Patriot Missile <- A patriot can only travel up 10 territories away from a given owned territory (in any direction), will nail 1 territory and replace it with a neutral army but only has a 75% success rate.

More variations...

if all 5 cards are same colour < you get 2 nukes!

all 3 cards same colour < 2 ICBMs

2 cards same colour < 2 patriots.

We can play this along with armies or without. i.e. cards can be used to cash for armies also - will make it very interesting :p or keep it only to missiles so the armies will be very few... mostly neutrals haha.

You can eliminate somone by nuking them but you dont get their cards... lol.

and the nuked territory gets irradiated. it will not count towards the continent bonus (meaning you don't need it to get the continent), it can't be conquered and all those that pass through it get their armies halved (rounded down)

haha good end to end stuff... but right now it doesn't look like many people are interested.

I just wanted to be able to nuke someone.

how about if u have a set u can eather cash it 4 armys or use it 2 eliminate all the armys on a terrortory of ur choice!

What a strange idea... People usually complain already about the random aspect of the cards (however, most people use cards to put the games to move)... Now with something like this? this makes the game so out of control for each player, that can ruin a perfect strategy easily, I think. I dont know if I would like the pressure of people having nukes to cause extreme havoc on my territories...

2-3 cards same colour and you receive 2?? Ok, 5 same colour is difficult. but 2-3 is not. Maybe, the other hand: you can exchange only if they are same colour.

The missile can trip 10 territories??? Man, I think you dont know the exact range of this. In classic, for example, a missile can go from Central America (or anywhere in SA) to Australia.

I might try it. Not sure though. Maybe it could be an option on game plays so that it's not in use for every game.

to solve the problem with havoc the missiles can be obtained by trading 3 cards of the same colur and can be deployed only in one of the 3 territories shown on the cards.

with one nuke,you can basicly destroy a whole contenent, just wait 5 turns in the beginning and be ably to put someone out of the game? I don't like the idea.

well so can the other guy as long as he is well spread... it is mutually assured self destruction.

It will be hilarious; trying to strategize knowing that your armies can be decimated at any point.

what I love is the risk factor involved here - I am kinda bored with the same old escalating strategies of blocking etc, and most newbs don't even block, if you play with the vets, a perfect game will pretty much come down to luck of the cards.

Imagine escalating cards with nukes. people won't stack up and that is the whole point.

I can see the higher ranked players never playing this as it will upset their careful strategizing... (sorry eddy), but I just play for fun and would love to have a game of mayhem.

been there done that. i held aussie wirth no borders, i held asia with only 3 territories (the rest were irradiated)
but the bestpart is in assassin games where you sometimes have to pass through 2-3 irradiated territories to get to your target :)

i like the idea think it could be too coplicated but if worked on could work. I like the idea of attacking territories further away. Is it possible there was just a specific map for it.

All you need to do is make it a card option, instead of flat rate or escilating you can do "Bomb" or something like that, and then you could use the Nukes and others. I think it'd be cool if it didn't nock them out of the country, but just took there armies down to one.

Any other input on this idea? I think it'd be a lot of fun to have as one of the card settings. I like it the way Vic said it originally about the five cards= Nuke, and so on below that...

yeah we can amend the original to leave one army on the territories adjoining to those that the nuke hits... the original becomes neutral tho.

so this way if i hold a continent, a nuke will ensure that i dont get a bonus by making atleast 1 terr. neutral :)

yeah either way works for me, as you said I just want to be able to Nuke people. I think it'd add an interesting element of strategy as well.

grand strategy (http://denizengames.com) has this. they use command cards and one of them is nuke a country, kills all of the armies but 1.

we need to get lack to play some games there and then use their ideas.
