Time buffer for the last one in freestyle speed

Concise description:
  • This is for freestyle speed games.
  • The last one to finish his turn can not start his next turn for a bit more time, not just until someone else starts his turn.

Specifics/Details:
  • Currently the last player to finish his round has to wait until half of the next round time passes or someone else starts his round. I suggest to add at least 1 minute "buffer" for the last player to be able to start his next round.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • This will disable a fairly ridiculous strategy where people (once they get a huge bonus) start their turns immediately to get the bonus and make attacks ONLY after everyone else finish their turns (usually to reconquer the lost huge bonus). And repeat this every turn. It seems like the only strategy to beat it is to use the same strategy (+ some scripts which would help you to start your turns on the same second your opponent starts his turn) or just do not play such type of game.
  • This will also somewhat deter people from doing nothing until the last minute.

It's not a "ridiculous" strategy, it's a strategy inherent to the gameplay - there are rewards to being quick in freestyle. If you don't like it, don't play freestyle :P

Well, I would think that primary goal for freestyle speed game is to have the quickest possible gameplay. Why should this type of game have such strategy which is completely alien to other types of games?

I called the strategy *fairly* ridiculous, because being just very alert and quick is not really enough. You've to use scripts which would help you to be "ultra-quick".
It also does not seem to me as a healthy state when there is one dominant strategy which actually can not be countered by any other strategy except "do not play such games".

Nuclear has an "Alien" type of strategy. Usually you want your biggest stack on the offensive. In that gametype, you can't simply just have 1 big stack and hope all goes well. That's when you lose all of your troops to 1 nuke.

Speed Freestyle is a lot of skill, and I don't think you realize this. I've watched a lot of 8 man escalating games on Speed freestyle. Knowing when and where to strike, where to block takes a lot more skill than it seems. There was a reason that 9/10 times a top notch player came out on top.

The site offers these scripts to players, and if you read the newsletter *SPOILER ALERT*, lack is actually planning on integrating Clickable maps into the site as a whole by the 5th Anniversary.
