Christmas Ceasefire

Postby Arethusa on Tue Dec 14, 2010 3:59 am

Concise description:
  • As we're now in the season of Peace and GoodWill to all men (and Women), I thought it might be a good thing to have a Christmas Ceasefire on Christmas Day, reflecting what happened on the Western Front in 1914.

Specifics/Details:
  • Send out a request to all members, asking them not to attack on Christmas day, Players could still take their turn, by adding new troops and reinforcing, or simply miss a turn. Just don't go through the attack phase, no matter how tempting.

It will give members a warm fuzzy feeling inside, knowing that they have saved the lives of countless cyber troops:
  • I have started a poll to gauge the interest. Poll will last for 5 days

it would be better if you could ask lack to change the shot time to 48 hours for that period. i know he does somthing for when he does updates allowing more time.

I really like the idea of a Christmas cease-fire, but dont think it will fly.

Blitz suggested the same thing as your thinking Eddie a week ago, and was met with overwhelming dis-approval given that Christmas is only a Christian holiday, where as CC is secular website.
I however loved the idea, but thats just for me not wanting to have to ask someone to sit for me,( eventhough Ive dropped from 120 games to 30)

well all i can say to people against this idea of blitz's and the op is bahhhhhh humbug to them, where is the xmas spirit.

what is xmas it is a time to spend with family and friends no matter what your religion is. not to spend time in front of the computer. how many of you say i am just going to play for 30 mins end up spending 3 hours.

I didn't want to start a religious/political debate. However, there are specials on for such things as St Patrick's day (How many players are Irish?), Hallowe'en (upsets the evangelical christian players). It was meant to be a gesture by players themselves, rather than imposing something on them.

I personally, will not attack on Christmas day....just my little contribution to world peace O:) O:) O:) (And it stops my wife complaining, that she's a CC widow :D ) I may be daft, but hey...it's only a game at the end of the day.

If CC wants to implement a 48-hour clock for Christmas Day, that's their prerogative, but asking people not to attack out of kindness is just a silly idea.

This is happening on another site where nobody can attack from 12:00:01 AM CST 12/25 - 11:59:59 PM CST 12/25. It's perfect because I can rebel and not have to worry.

But yeah it seems cool

Dec 25th 2010 - jj and his army crosses the Delaware River to attack the Kingdoms in CC land while they relax, drink and feast in their trenches celebrating Christmas all snuggled up in their warm cuddly truces.
This post was made by jefjef who should be on your ignore list.
