Additional Player Rating

Postby upstate on Sun Dec 05, 2010 11:55 pm

The rating system I am referrring to is the speed at which a players actually takes turn. I'm kind of addicted to this game and would like to be able to join games with players that check the game often and take their turns often. I am on a computer constantly because of my job and because of this am able to take my turns about as quickly as it is my turn. Then maybe even have it so you can start a game and have a certain level of this rating to join a match. There would need to be something to take in account for the time zone the person leaves in and corresponding time it took for a turn to be made. Not sure if this has been suggested before hand or not.

It was part of the "first generation" of the ratings system (called "Attendance"), but got removed pretty quickly. Instead of having other players rate your "attendance", which can be subjective especially in concern to people who abuse the rating system, the game's system now calculates all of the turns that you have taken in every single game you have ever played, and divide that by the total number of turns that you could have possibly taken (so if you took all of the turns that you've ever taken, you would have "Attendance: 100% of turns taken). This is now shown on your profile, and is the most objective way of showing how reliable someone is when taking into consideration if a player frequently misses turns.
As in concern to how quick a player takes turns, due to the fact many people on this site have a lot of stuff going on in life, they may not be always looking at their computers and taking turns whenever. Having an additional section the ratings system would lead to significant dispute because the players who are slow are still taking turns. It's just that their "turn-taking speed" is hindered by something out of their control.

plus the Casual setting clearly states a person has 24 hours to take their turn

it would not be fair if they got rated poorly for complying

There is a setting that allows for quick play, they are called speed games, and can be played unlimited for only $25.
Aside from that I agree with greenoaks, ppl have 24 hours to play, and it is within the rules to take evey second of it.

Maybe I phrased it improperly as a Additional Player Rating. An automatic system that's not dependent on player input that would gauge a person's turn around time for taking there turn. I understand there is the quick play but as stated people have lives and aren't always able to commit to that sort of match. I'm basicly looking for a way to see a rating of players turn around for taking there turn. That way I can join games that have people who take there turns often. That was all I was trying to get at. I am slowly talking myself out of being a cheapskate and will renew my membership again but for the time being i'm happy with my 4 game limit. ;)

In that case, I don't see a problem with this suggestion. I guess something new could be implemented to show how often a player takes their turns and viewed publicly on their profiles.

I use the "quick" tag for people who always seem to take there turns quickly.
