Practice Games

Concise description:
  • I think it would be very beneficial to the community at large to be able to create a 'practice game' where participants do not lose or gain points or change their win %. Did a quick search and couldn't see anything similar.

Specifics/Details:
  • Would be a simple option like Fog -> Practice: YES/NO

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • Greatly encourage new and old players to take more risks on new maps and meeting people. Probably cut down on multis for the same reason.

The other side of the argument is that people would use no point games to learn the map, and then once they've mastered it, actually go and kill people at it. This would make the game more unbalanced, as well as reduce the amount of games available in general that you can gain points from.

thanks for the reply.

i don't think what you said about some 'people' mastering the map and beating everyone is valid since anyone could practice the map before trying it like how it should be. getting your ass repeatedly handed to you by farmers on a map like stalingrad should not be the only way to learn a map and definitely turns people off to playing them.

reducing the amount of points games may be true, but maybe practice games could be restricted in number (1 for freemium 2-4 for premium) or restricted to your friends list.

trial by fire doesn't need to be the only way to learn.

making friends and playing on maps amongst yourself works
for example DaveH keeps signing tec805 & myself up for triples tournaments for maps we don't have a clue on
that is why we create games on obscure maps and invite people like yourself & tatianair

another thing that works is joining the usergroup Map Explorers - there you will play with others who also have no idea - people like me :D or should that be :-$
