New Player User Name Help

• It will give new players a warm fuzzy and maybe keep people from going multi.

If you are like me, when you first found the site you sat in front of your monitor and said, "WOW! I can't believe I finally found a way to play my favorite copyrighted world domination game online!" Then excitedly joined up. When you started to fill in the form you thought..."Hmm, user name? What should I be called? ... ... (my mind is blank and I am so excited to play... arr, what is my user name going to be?) ... Let's see I am too old for this at 44, and I love risk, and whisky. ... That's it oldrisky44! YES! I'm in!

... Oh man I should have capitalized Oldrisky44... darn.

Well that didn't work out too bad for me, and over time I guess everyone comes to grips with the name they have chosen. But, I was thinking that it would be nice if at the home page when a new player signs in for the first time there was a list of ideas, suggestions, and warnings about what makes a good and a bad user name.

I have seen some bad ones around that I am sure the poor guy never expected he would be stuck with for the rest of his life.

It's nothing earth shattering or high techy, but maybe a good idea????

I'd love to change my username

Should be an option even a paid one like world of warcraft.

You could even have a name history button so people could see any name changes.

You got to consider how much of a load that would put on the server. All the logs in every single game would have to change, same with every single post. Also friend's lists and foe's lists would be totally thrown out of whack.

Ok everyone, this is NOT another “I’d like to change my user name” post. That idea has been rejected countless times for the reasons posted above.

This IS about helping NEW and FIRST TIME members create a good and acceptable user name that they can be proud of forever and never have to wish for a new one.

Please keep this in mind when posting here.

If you ever change your user name, let me know please, I would consider taking your old one. My third favorite number is 72 and The author of the Bourne series was Robert Ludlum.

It appears that no one wants to understand what oldrisky was actually suggesting. I was aware when I signed up that my name would be permanent, so I thought about it and decided upon my role model: a ruling Chinese empress known for her humane character [ahem!]. But I've been thinking that some might just go ahead and then be stuck with a name they don't really like. So for that suggestion!
