Bonus troops in team games

Hi all,

For team games, I feel the lack of team bonuses is an oversight. For example, when playing quadruples, it is practically impossible to get continent bonuses early in the game because you can't attack your own team and players are typically fragmented all over the map.

Surely if a team owns all the territories in a given continent, they should get some kind of uplift.

I appreciate this is a challenging thing to rectify. One idea might be to let the bonus accrue to the player in the team with the most territories overall (the nominal 'team captain'). They could then choose to reinforce their own territories or another team member's. Alternatively, the bonus could accrue to the player who has the most territories in the specific continent (the regional 'team captain'). Alternatively, you could try to divide the bonus up somehow, but it is not clear to me that this would work.

I appreciate many of the people here have been playing far longer than I have, but since this is a place for suggestions I thought I would throw it out there.

Maybe cut the bonus in half and only give it to the one with more territs. Could be an issue if the bonus is an odd number and the territs are shared 2-2 etc. I see some merit to this. Would change gameplay on many maps.

Actually, you can attack your teammates, and sometimes should for precisely this reason.

There also is already an uplift for a team controlling an entire continent, being that the enemy can't attack them from there.

I'm not a fan of this proposal. It would bring the gameplay of teamgames far too close to that of 1v1, including the way too heavy significance of the drop.

i don't like this either

i like that you have to decide if attacking a teammate is worth the bonus

Might be worthwhile as an option for team play if the bonus could be evenly divided among the entire team. For example, on a triples, a +3 bonus would equate to 1, 1, and 1 for each teammate; shared victory, shared benefits; while a +2 bonus would be 1 and 1, and the third player, nothing. But, I'd only support it as a gameplay option, not as a full-up change to the current teaming programming.
