[Roman Numerals & Black colored armies]
not sure if this would interfere with risk copyrights but instead of regular numbers can we have the option of roman numerals and maybe have black colored armies included and maybe an option to choose colors?
also make the option to have a "true manual deployment" where you can even pick out the initial placements and positioning for neutrals just like in the real risk board game.

I like the idea of black armies, picking colours on first come first serve type basis.
Not sure about the roman numerals.
Picking your initial territories I'm undecided as well, this could be abused I'm sure somehow.

I feel like the Roman Numerals would get way too clunky on some maps and black armies wouldn't work with some of the maps.

Black armies could work if the circles are colored correctly.
There's already a suggestion in for choosing your color.

Black armies will never be allowed. Same with White. Too racialist.

I think they are going to get rid of the red army color next. Too offensive.

Yellow is obviously racist too though

I think this is getting off topic *cough*. However, I do agree with AoG that the Roman Numerals would just get too big on some, especially things like feudal war. I also don't think enough people have the Roman Numeral system memorized enough for it to be effective. Black armies, as Metsfanmax stated, could work on maps if they were done correctly, but I think for the most part it wouldn't be ok. Take into consideration maps like Europe.

While I agree that White, Black, Red and Yellow are racist,...
...I believe this suggestion has merit. A revival of the Roman Numeral system is in order. It would generate a lot of interest in this site and probably encourage members to learn their roman numerals.

No spoils games would get unreadable pretty quickly with overlapping numbers, it's the length of the roman numeral that's the problem.
Even four characters (9999) can look poor on some maps.

While four characters for 9999 looks "poor" (as you noted) I believe that the Roman Numerals look RICH. I'd rather see MMMMMMMMMIM than 9999.

Actually, 9999 = MMMMMMMMMCMXCIX

MrBenn's right. And the Roman numeral system is completely and entirely unnecessary, impractical, and by no means useful. This would be a complete pain for mapmakers everywhere, as they would have to set aside an incredible amount of space for the troop number.
As for the black troop color, would that be replacing slate or what? I suppose you could use "k" for the colorblind letters. The black troops would be cool, but I don't know as if it's worth going to the trouble of making it happen.

great input by all.so to wrap this up:1) Black armies out.
2) Roman numerals not thees-able
3)
manual deployment without the initial random placement......
good possibility?

I see my TA Mr. Benn has helped me to see my error! Good catch Benny! That's why we pay you the big bucks!
Still, those roman numerals would make for fun gameplay!

picking the territories would be unfair to the person who starts last. Even if it is freestyle, the person who starts last will still be at the losing end. I suggest that each player can only pick territories once the other person has started, but this way, it would only be plausable in rt games or speeders

Why are black armies out?? I thought the response was generally supportive of the idea?

Black armies are hard to see and there's no real reason to implement them.

Also, what color would be changed to black? Currently there is a suggestion to up the amount of players to 12, but the preset colors are already picked.

Could you post the link to that thread here?
