Sub Forums

I was thinking whilst sifting through map threads today that it might be a good idea to split the foundry into two forums.

A new forum called, perhaps, the Cartographer's Club or something, would be for discussing map ideas in their early (pre-image) status, techniques, the benefits of the various programs and playability. There's been a fair few new topics along the lines of 'can anyone make a map?' and 'how many borders is ideal' which get in the way of the genuine maps in development. I also think it would be useful to be able to post questions about, for example, what techniques people used on a certain map and how to achieve certain effects with out cluttering the threads of that map.

The other forum would be The Foundry, and only maps in development with images would be allowed. A much cleaner forum and it would be much easier to find the maps you wish to comment on.

Anyone think its a good idea?

Also, other Sub Forums

Sub forums are being considered for many areas, but to be honest, they are a ways away. :)

I dont like it because I feel like the non-image forum would not be as often viewed. As of right now people may go to the Foundry to look at a map they may have put up or just to see what is going up in the somewhat near future and make it the best they can. While they are in the Foundry they may stumble across a map in its pre image state. The person may feel they really like it and choose to make it themselves.

If the pre-image maps were in another section it would only be looked at by people who wanted to make a map they did not care for, just for the sake of making a map-- I do not think there are a lot of people like that.

I mean it as more for questions about techniques, programs, playability etc. etc. rather than just ideas, but if its being considered some time in the not to near future then don't worry. Its not essential, just thought it'd be a nice suggestion.

Hopefully, once we have a few major things crossed off the To-Do list, we can beautify and organize the site a little more. The next couple of months will surely be entertaining!
