LIttle blue alert beside the "My Games" that says Go, or your turn, or available, or what ever you experts figure would be the best thing to alert you that it's your turn in one of your games.

but theres already something that does that. its the little indicator beside your name. If you want something else turn on email notification in your control panel. It will email you every time you have a turn waiting.

the little indicator beside your name.

There's nothing like that on the forums page, there is one for my inbox.

What good is an e-mail? If I'm not even clicking on my games to check every minute I certainly don't want to check my e-mails. That would be the opposite of more efficient.

I agree with dimes, we are in serious need of improving the turn alert system on this website. What about a function for a beeping noise, or like a dog that barks in the lower right-hand part of the window. It could auto-refresh every five seconds or so.

Come on now, people, we can do better.

There are lots of turn notifiers you can download for free, look at the Turn Notifier section in the first post here.
(Most require Firefox)

Conquertell makes sounds. Try that one.

Conquertell? I thought you were going to do the fox thing. I don't want a sound but if that's the consensus I can live with it.

I just like the [ 1 new ] like the one beside the inbox or something. Keep it simple I say. Foxes, barking, conquertells, etc. seem like a bit much. Why make extra work for the programmer guys?

they have said all these tools you are looking for have already been made. they exist. You have to use Mozilla Firefox for most of them tho. its an internet browser.

Really? Mine must not be working right. It only tells me when there's something in my inbox. I have to click on "My Games" to see if it's my turn or not.

I'm pretty sure I didn't download anything unless it was an accident, I had a premium once. Did the download come with that?

Does it cost money and can you get it at the app store?
http://www.apple.com/iphone/apps-for-iphone

Will it work on all the hotel/internet cafe and airport computers I use?

Download Firefox if you don't have it. Firefox is a browser like Internet Explorer.

Click this then the big button to download it http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/firefox/

Then download this (Speed Turns) and read the help window when it starts up.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/161757/

No sound on this one.

This will give you lots of things including a blue number next to mygames telling you how many turns you have.
Also there are many ways to click on any of your games quickly from any webpage.

Are you being serious. Nobody mentioned an ipod. These are not phone apps, these are Firefox add-ons.

2dimes wrote:Will it work on all the hotel/internet cafe and airport computers I use?

Firefox and these add-ons will work on these computers.

I suggest you try an add-on that I mentioned already

Perhaps read this

Oh, sorry. I like to use my iphone in the room or restaurants if they have wifi. My laptop is a 17" so packing it around is a pain and It uses internet explorer.

Strange how I get that [ 1 new ] thing by my inbox, even at the library. They should put the same thing in for when it's your turn.

I don't think I'm going to spend the time loading firefox things into public computers just to use once like you do that sounds like more work than clicking on the "My Game" thing to check if it's your turn while you're in the forums. Thanks anyway.

Point taken, yes. The inbox notifier is part of the site not an add-on so yes I think if the site implemented this, that would work for you.
You could always download Firefox on your laptop in the interim when you do choose to take it with you.

Although this has been suggested before, it may be a change for the site worth pursuing.

How it will benefit the site
  • People reading the forum will know it's their turn and take it, this will speed up games a little.

what about creating a more distinctive noise to indicate your turn, something special to the conquerclub universe, like the famous "You've Got Mail" or macintosh start up noise-blammo.

perhaps something like a cannon going off, but we'd have to make sure it didn't sound like a fat man farting in the bathtub. maybe a french horn would be best.

Really, no one else notices their opponants posting in the forums but not taking their turns because they don't know they're up as they checked their games before going to the forum and it wasn't their turn yet?

I guess it was "unseccessfull troll".
