Naming Private Games

From what I've gathered talking to AAfitz about lack's feelings on Colonel games having tourney privileges he is fed up with Elite games in the tourney game box. So I propose we can name private games to fix this. This will also work for clan tournaments.
That is all. No form, but its still a good suggestion.
Priority 5.

The thing I dont get, is that since 99% of the "Elite" who play these games are premium, why do they need Tourney Privs to create games?
Once the usergroups are back up, just create an "Elite" usergroup, then post the game numbers in the forum. You can use the same password for all the games, but then it doesnt spam the Tourney join page.

we are not asking to spam your tourney page....
he is asking to name the games in the private section
and i never said anyone was fed up...but i figured since AK locked it originally there was a reason(and i wasnt referring to lack...you paraphrased big time)
but the games are going well, its obvious enough which ones are which

I don't think it's even remotely necessary to name private games. Just make a private game and mail your "elite" buddies the game #.

the idea is to just join them without pming them...there are 100 or so colonels...should we send out 100 pms everytime we set up a game??
and they are not elite...just colonels games....open to all colonels
i got 40 people who were very excited about this, and we started it only a few days....disagree all you want with it, but clearly there is a demand for it
i believe there should be some for majors and captains too, but someone else can run with that one
some of us just play many games, and like to play lots of high ranking players
and i figured there would be a solution in the update, which is why i knew most of this would be irrelevant, but for now the games are a blast, and thats all i wanted...

That is a hell of a lot less convenient then having named games in the
PRIVATE section.. I dont want to get a list of game numbers and go trolling through looking for ones to join. I would like to be able to go through private games and see that they are clearly labeled "elite" or "colonel games" and join them. Also, this would be great for rt people, as they could name it R/T and everyone they had just called out would know to go to that game.
Face it, no matter your interests its a good idea.

Ak's fought the elite games and these since they were started..i think he may just be too cool for them
i am not that cool...i just like to play games

I am not against the "Elite" or Colonel games. I am against non-tourny games taking up more space in the Tourney join game page than actual Tourney games.
I think if they aren't Tourney games, they don't need to be there.
Which is why the usergroup would solve your problems. If you think PM'ing a password is too difficult, then just posting the game #'s in the usergroup would solve it, yes?

i understand ak...the tourney page is a mess
if there is an easy way to name private games, that would be awesome
if we have to wait, no big deal
right now im in 15 colonels games, and am not having a problem joining them...
its not perfect, but for now they are fine...but you cant blame the people who play the most on here for wanting to play each other....
i had planned to stay out of this once it got rolling...but obviously...pming 100 colonels 10 numbers or even going through callouts is just not practical
i posted that any private game that i begin, without a lower rank, or cdmilliner...will be a colonels game
i joined Mater Chief on this because i enjoy playing the a lot of the colonels
i really didnt want any drama at all...ive said before i get the $20 bucks worth I paid every day...if the site never changes, ill still play.

I'm not blaming anybody. We made rules before for "Elite" games to function with tourney privs, but the games snowballed and now the tourney page is a mess, just as you said. I don't think it's anybodys fault, but it does need to change.
Maybe instead of a usergroup you could start a thread in the callouts and post game #'s for Elite games in there?
Andy said something is in the works, so I guess it's fine for now. Just have to wait and see what he has planned.

What's wrong with just setting up standard passwords for your private games?

.
Which is the point of my suggestion, to clean up the tourney page by moving non tourneys to the private games page, while still keeping the game joining as convenient.

thats what we did....
i actually dont mind it...i was actually going to invite you in an honorary game to show thanks for moving the thread for us....
it would just be easier to have a name at the top of the game obviously, but im sure we can live with this for now
ive guessed wrong a few times in the private section, but i have a lot of them going too....so many, that by the end of the week, ill be sending out a password for
majors games
I for one appreciate all the work everyone puts into the site. I'm not trying to make it harder...
i believe the general message to all here is
be patient, which is fine by me

The tourney page is a mess regardless of whether the "Elite" games are in there or not. Games from all the tourneys sprayed everywhere depending on when they were created and no sorting system.
A better system would be to separate all the various tourney games into separate pages that are listed on the tourney page. All the "whatever" tourney games in the first link, "whatever 2" in the second, etc. Click on a link and all the games for the respective tourney are there immediately, no searching through the entire list required. No games from 8+ different tourneys intermingled with each other. Having each tourney admin be able to create games only for their respective tourney would further prevent intermixing.
Maybe instead of a usergroup you could start a thread in the callouts and post game #'s for Elite games in there?

The problem here is not in the standard password but in finding the games with the settings you want. "Elite" games doesn't cover just one type of game but all setting types.
Unless in the usergroup post/whatever lists all the games and settings and tells you whether the game is full (which the current Elite tourney game setting does), then you have to search through the entire private game list while hoping the games you find are the ones you have the password for.

i was elite for one game...but it all went downhill after that and i never was asked again
i rather keep it as it is, its much better when youre searching for games just by number and not names

there are 20 pages of players with your score or better....the colonels take up half of the first page, and from the bottom of the colonels there is still a 1500 point difference to the top...99 percent are premiums...i myself have paid for 3 premiums, and will pay for a fourth if i ever get my friend ed to start some games...
and, the reason i like to play these guys and gals, is because i play them a lot, they are always a challenge, always respectful, and I can trust them,
letting the players that play the most have the opportunity to play together when they want easily isnt cheesy...its common sense

but you can do that without name if you want an etreme example of a site that is really tacky/cheesy go to neopets.com there you get to name just about everything, numbers are more proffesional.
