Currently, when you create a game and either await, or invite, other players you have no interaction with them until the game is filled.

It seems that you could have an ENTER GAME button active prior to the game being started, along with the current DROP GAME button.

This only works for "smack talking", or pre-game communications---spoken as someone who does most of their talk through game chat.

You could say things in chat, prior to the start of the game.

This will improve the following aspects of the site by allowing more communication, camraderie, and pre-game negotiation.

What about people who join, but then quit?

Two buttons.

You could still Drop the game, it's just that you would be able to "post" into a game prior to it starting.

I think this refers to people who would join the game, post in the chat and then drop it.

As this seems like it would require significant changes in the way waiting games are handled I don't see at as being worth the effort...

Exactly

And you know, you can PM. Its legal as long as you are not discussing strategy, etc.

This could perhaps be interesting for picking up new partners. Forum users know that you can do that in callouts, but a majority of the CC community is not active in the forums.

OP so far your suggestion is not getting very good reviews. I would suggest looking for a twist on it, to try to gain some support.
