Change player color from grey to black

Concise description:
  • Currently games with 8 players have a gray player color. Grey is very hard to distinguish from white, and it might affect strategic decisions. (AKA That territory is neutral, so if I attack it I don't have to worry about being attacked back) It can also be difficult for the gray player to find his troops in a sea of neutrals.

Specifics:
  • Change the gray player color to something easier to distinguish from neutral, like Black.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • Prevent players mistaking neutral for another player and vice versa
  • Make it easier to find your units if you are the gray player.

Agreed.

And pink is sometimes annoying as well.

Grey is no way indistinguishable from white? :?

I'm sure they tested colors and black will blend into some maps.

There are some maps that would be very problematic, like conquer man for instance.

Use the color-blind color-code option... I have mine set to permanently on, and I am not color blind, but it works really well so you dont make little mistakes

grey-green
red-pink
yellow-white(neutral)

there are many cases where it can be hard to distinguish colors. There just aren't that many colors available to switch to. Black may be difficult to distinguish from blue, plus it would blend into maps like Conquer Man. The colors aren't perfect, but I don't see a way to make them better, and grey is definitely not the biggest problem, I would say yellow-white is. As iamkoolerthanu said, use the option to show color codes, the extra letter first of all makes it easier to see the color, but you can also obviously read the letter if you still can't distinguish.

Yellow-orange is pretty difficult to distinguish on some maps. But, I agree with the others, we don't need to redo all the colors because people don't take the time to examine the map and/or turn on the color code option. The mods and lack have better things to do than that (like implementing zombie neutrals).

With so many different difficulties, suffered by so many different people, it sure is good that the solution to this has already been implemented.
