@metsfan: do you always have to argue your point into oblivion? Learn to shut up please.

Regarding the point at hand: I don't play much 1v1, so I don't really care what happens to that. I don't think this suggestion is necessary for multiplayer games, though, and has some small but significant disadvantages.

Due to the political nature of a multiplayer game, players will team up on the player with the higher income, making a dropped bonus far less likely to be gamebreaking. Even in a 3 player game, if the player who begins also drops a bonus, the game is still far from played, because the other two players together are almost guaranteed to have an income to match that of the player ahead, even after his attacks.

In fact, seeing someone drop a bonus and get the first turn in multiplayer is worth experiencing once in a while. It teaches diplomacy, gives the players in the worse position the chance to feel better about themselves because of a win where everything seemed to go against them, or gives a weaker player just the boost he needs to get one of his rare wins.

I wouldn't be devastated if this was implemented in multiplayer, but if it isn't broken, don't fix it. (Voted only for 1v1)

Many people have been touting that getting dropped a bonus in 1v1 is game over. I simply disagree. This is a wrong headed statement. Let's look at a sample of maps and consider bonusses you are likely to get dropped.

Charleston: West Ashley for +3. so you get 11 Troops and use those to protect your bonus.... the other guy gets 8 troops and uses them either to A) Break your bonus or B) hurt you in some other way or C) get his own damn bonus. In a spoils games, bonusses become much less important.

Scotland: +1 for 3 cities. Come on.

8 Thoughts: you might get +2 for holding the trinity of ideas, but good luck holding onto it.

Cricket: Bowler. OK. that map is whack anyway and Bowler usually wins that map whether you start on it or take it.

Supermax: New Fish for +2. But more than likely this game is going to be about experience on it and drop.

Prohibition Chicago: Jiggle Juice Trucks: +3. again. nearly impossible to maintain.

The simple fact is that in my oppinion the people who started this idea were really just upset that they didn't get dropped a bonus. I used to play a lot of 1v1 and all I have to say is....

The #1 winner for 1v1 games is turn order. period. Giving someone that advantage is not acceptable. period.
