XML TTT, Q&A Sticky?

Postby oaktown on Sun Sep 09, 2007 11:59 am

 The MapMaking TTT in the Foundry is a great thread, but it is almost entirely about graphics. It would also be nice to also have a sticky that discusses XML tips, tricks, tutorials, questions and answers, and updates. I can't tell you how many times I've had to search to find the old thread describing the additional XML options.

in the map making tools sticky there is a link to a xml tutorial.

so no need for another sticky, but i would like to see a hidden forum. something like map makers playground. where graphics and xml stuff could be discussed at length. with access only for map makers and xml geeks

yes, there is. But it is a locked thread and you can't ask questions, share tips, etc.

"map makers playground" - I like the sound of that. But why hide it? I suspect it's only geeks like us who will spend time there anyway.

hide it to avoid unwanted spam and stupidity.

it would be a place where we can talk on specific things like masking layers, a place where we can share brushes and filters or simply discuss the possibilities of the xml.

in the foundry there are a lot of people that don't know anything about graphics and xml coding and just roam around spaming all the threads with things like: "it's a great idea" "i love it" or the classic "quench"

imagine these people will also come in the map makers playground (or lair) and post stupid thing like: "wow. amazing" or starting threads like "i want to do a map" then when they find out how hard it is they give up.
