A good rule my friends and I play by is to have the army return increment on cards increase by 1 each time.

The first to turn in cards receives 4 armies, then 5, 6, 7, 8, etc...

The cap is 20 armies if we make it that far.

We find this makes for a much more balanced game overall and doesn't get so instantly lop-sided later in the game.

I would very much like to see this option available.

it makes a different game that's for sure.

If you have a look at a game or 2 involving some of the fellows at the top of the scoreboard who largely play singles esc. (look for win ratio less than 40%) you will see that they have tailored their strategy to allow for the imminent arrival of massive forces ... have a look at the thread in Strategy: Elite Escalating Strategy Game
(there is a game link to the game there too.)


Not saying it's better or worse but the style has changed to avoid the imbalance which you identify.
Personally i am not totally against your idea but neither do i see 'much' point to it.

I am still thinking on this one, wouldn't it lead to immensely long games and stalemates due to the knowledge of the exact card cash value and then the cap; giving every subsequent cash the same value (20)?
