Army Leader: Game Type

Postby max is gr8 on Fri Aug 31, 2007 8:32 am

All battles revolve around the leaders of the army. When the leader of the army is defeated that side is absolved,

This variation is a game me and my friends have played for years where 1 piece is the general of the army and can be moved like any other unit. He does not make a difference in battle he can be fortified if that country is lost with him in it the persons army is dissolved and is converted to the other persons army heres an example.

Greens owns Australia and America is in Western Australia
Red owns all but Australia, America and Asia,
Blue owns all of Asia

Blue Destroys Western Australia
Blue now owns America Austalia and Asia without having to fight for it

How does the game start? Obviously at home you can put your general anywhere and fortify his territory so you don't lose it on the first turn, but in CC you couldn't do that unless there was manual deployment.

It could be that its placed randomly and that teritory is given 3 extra armies so It isnt taken right away. Or You could have it so It doesnt come in until the third round. Then you chosse what territory to put it in.

I'm not sure I understand what you're suggesting. Maybe it's just your lack of basic punctuation, but I'm not sure.

"Green owns Australia and America is in Western Australia" huh?

What is the army absolved of when the leader is defeated?

Me confused...

no good unless manual deployment is allowed....
REASON.... lets say you do have a general and he is signified by 3 extra men.... Say you are in World 2.1

1st everyone will know where the generals are...
2nd If after deployment (which is random right now) the "6" (General is placed in lets say Thailand... and almost all your armies are all the way in America and Africa...Whoever is around the 6 will simply play there move and frtify all there men to surround the "6".... and next turn wipe you out....thus gaining all your territories and eventually win cause now they are twice as strong as everyone else

for this idea you need manual depolyment and or maybe
some kind of hidden marker to represent your general....although it will still need to be around the bulk of your armies

don't feel bad, your not alone, i think what he is getting at is a mode where u have a special army, and once it is destroyed you are eliminated, and all your territorys converted to the conqueror, the current problem is how would you deploy this so it was not taken the first turn(as in all your armies are in the west(N and S america, some of europe and alaska, excpet for one, say in austrailia, and since you can't fort this guy out to where you have territories, and you know let's say in a 2 player game, so with the exception of the neutral territories, the other player owns 3/4 of austrailia, and when he takes the fourth territory to get the bonus, he wins. My suggestion is that the first turn you can't attack and you just deploy, more like a pre turn.

One more thing that i didn't mention, i believe he is talking that the army is hidden to all other players, like an assassin target, which brings me to a question not related to the CC version, and to the original poster, how do you play on the board, if it's what i thought how it would be played then how do you regulate against cheating, this wouldn't be a problem online but i do want to know
Also i have a question for the original poster.

I am really excited about this idea if it will work.

We have to write it down on a piece of paper and every move we are allowed to move it also we trust each other ;)
We played it once with visible general that's also a lot of fun.

I meant the general was in western australia
