More mutli hunters.

Postby Coleman on Mon Jul 30, 2007 12:51 pm

Suggestion: More mutli hunters, (or a public relations guy/gal in the abuse report forum)

Reason: People are getting frustrated with reporting people and then hearing nothing about it forever.

Priority: High
Warning: You may be reading a really old topic.

so what would a PR person do? say hold on, they'll get to it? guess I'm not understanding the point of that? we actually have another person in training now to help with multi hunting, so hopefully when he's up to speed, we'll have a better turn-around time.

There isn't really much of a point except for that they (people reporting other people) don't feel like they're being ignored.

Great! Very good to hear.

I dont' see a need for a PR person. I'd rather just see us handle the reports more quickly. FP and I just knocked out most of them in the last 12 hours.

Yeah, I only added on that PR bit as some what of an after thought. Just another person to speed things along is probably more then enough, and you already have that going.

I'm not sure how you guys handle the Mutli reports, but it's possible the PR person could also act as a personal assistant type person. They'd be the person reminding the Multi-Hunters what requests haven't been completed yet, and also keeping up with the closed reports and forwarding them along to the Multi-Hunters when someone has a legitimate appeal.

Granted, having this person as another Multi-Hunter would work just as well, but if you're unwilling to give someone access to hunt multis, maybe you could delegate this responsibility to someone. Possibly even someone you are thinking could be a Multi-Hunter, and you just use the "PR" position as a testing ground of sorts.

What's a mutli, and why are we hunting them?

Sorry tree, we have a workable system now and MHs dont' handle appeals. Like mods, MHs are volunteers, so sometimes life or "real" work gets in the way. As far as reminding MHs, the mods do a decent job of that. ;-)

Meh they were taking a lot of time with cheating/abuse reports but I didn't think much of it. I think a better thing would be to get a few people to handle feedback moderation. There's no problem right now but the site is constantly growing and it'll be one less thing for the mods to worry about. They might be in over their heads sooner rather than later.

It wouldn't be too hard either. They just pick someone they trust and hope they don't abuse the awesome power of feedback moderation.

I assume it's just people they trust (Mods and Multi Hunters alike). Personal friends of Lack, or someone who helped get the site started back in the day. It could even go down to just plain old good members. Level headed people who present their posts in an organized and readable manner.

As for the process, I would guess the most that goes into Multi-Hunting is checking IP Addresses and where they are located. The biggest part of the job is likely dealing with false positives from people who may play from the same location (like a school, or even work), but have different IP addresses when they login from home.

I couldn't see it being that difficult; mostly time consuming.

Yes. None of the mods or MHs knew lack personally before CC; even twill & lack, who were at the same school! lol

I was just going off past experiences, really. Even if there were personal friends of Lack's as Mods, it still holds the same premise. He knows he can trust them...

Actually, I have some personal friends I wouldn't give moderator access to on my site. So scratch that idea. :)

If someone becomes a Multi Hunter, do they get IP-seeing power? Or software something?
